Ordered two more for my collection. They arrived yesterday. Cimmerian Christmas in January (yeah, I know there's no Conan content, but still.) Thought I'd share.

They look lovely. I really want to pick up the 4 volumes set of Fists of Iron. I've not read any of the boxing stories before and know that when I do it will be a treat. With REH there's always more excellent literature to look forward to.

With REH there's always more excellent literature to look forward to. The boxing books are great. While there is a finite amount of REH out there, that still means thousands and thousands of pages of Howard. Just the Foundation books so far take up a couple bookshelves. That doesn't count the Del Reys and more coming from the REHF.

I just got Fists of Iron Vols. 1-4 in the mail a few days ago. I am a big fan of Howard's boxing yarns, especially Sailor Steve Costigan. REH's "Iron Men" may be his finest story. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

While I don't rate The Iron Men as highly as you, I definitely consider it one of REH's best boxing stories.

Looks like I might have to save up for some of these once I finally finish collecting the Del Reys...

If that was Christmas, I'm sure you'll also enjoy Boxing Day!

The Winter 2015-2016 issue of The Robert E. Howard Foundation Newsletter came in the mail today.
It looks like the REHF Press is planning two books in 2016, a two volume set of Howard's Humorous Western stories ala Breckenridge Elkins and others.

That is good news, Breckinridge Elkins is one of my favourite REH characters. I wonder what they will do with the "A Gent from Bear Creek" stuff. Most of the novel is composed of short stories already published in Action Stories. But REH has added many humorous elements and new charaters when he strung all those stories together. I actually prefer the reworked versions, and would be highly interested in the date of writing of these humorous stories. Are there any details when they plan to bring out those books?

Personally, I think they should put out a (semi)repro edition of the "Gent" novel, but I doubt that will happen. I'd buy it, though. Doing so would solve about all of the problems.

I haven't got it yet, so it's great to hear this while I'm waiting. IIRC, there are only a couple of volumes left to do after that (at least according to the plan that was posted at rehtwogunraconteur a few years ago).

Personally, I think it would cool (and commercially viable) to publish all of the Conan drafts, Hyborian Age drafts and other Conan/HA ephemera in one volume. Conan completists would buy it and so would scholars like us.

Conan completists would buy it and so would scholars like us. Great idea! The old plan did contain a "Leftovers" volume, so I guess there will be plenty of drafts, synopses and fragments in that one. And with REH, even such unfinished material makes for great reading, as you know.
