Here's a youtube video of that Red Sonja 45. Thanks for that link, zarono — I think! Now if someone can just post a link to the Conan LP for The Tower Of The Elephant (the one with the Tim Conrad cover - I remember seeing it advertised in the early Savage Sword days. Or even the LP where L. Sprague de Camp narrates a couple of stories. ...... I was flicking through SSOC 11 today and found the Conan record with the Conrad cover. The Decamp one was a dramatisation of 'The Bloodstained God' and 'Curse of the Monolith' Unfortunately, no luck finding the recordings yet.

I like that cover, deuce. Who's it by, d'ye know? At first I thought Gil Kane because of the Carter figure in the background, but Dejah Thoris makes me think it's someone else. ...... Dave Cockrum inked by Rudy Nebres. -M

I rather enjoy master of Kung Fu. It manages to feel like a continuation of the Fu Manchu stories and captures the great parts (the rousing adventure and likable characters) while not being racist and irritating about it.

Doug Moench did an incredible job on that series. Rohmer scholar, William Patrick Maynard, looks at Fu Manchu in the comics here: www.blackgate.com/2010/07/23/fu-manchu-in-comics/

Going off the beaten track a bit for some cool Bronze Age stuff... Star Reach #1 circa 1974... #6... #7... #8... #12... Hot Stuf' #1 circa 1974/1975... #2... #4... #7... Doctor Weird #1 (circa 1970) featuring pre-professional work by George R.R. Martins and Jim Starlin... and #2... for the curious who don't want to drop a hundred bucks a pop for these rare fanzine comics, they were collected and reprinted in the 90s ('94ish) when Martin was first getting buzz for the first Game of Thrones book in this special... . Also circa 1971... and #2... and then in '77 this hit... and for the Lovecraft fans the Oct 1979 issue of Heavy Metal... . -M

Then there's some mindblowing sci-fi, Clarke through ht elens of Kubrick filtered through the pencil of Kirby... and then Jack just riffing off of it... King Kirby exploring more weird stuff... and this series features some of the most out there double page spreads by Kirby... Kirby playing with Von Daniken ideas.... also featuring some incredible double-page spreads... -M

And the gruesome Fleisher/Aparo Spectre stories that ran in Adventure... or the moody weird tales in DC's Phantom Stranger... the gorgeous Kaluta covers to Doorway to Nightmare... the gorgeous painted covers features in Gold Key comics, such as these Flash Gordon issues... I love the mainstream Marvel and DC stuff, but I much prefer the off the beaten path stuff form those 2 publsihers and other much more obscure publishers. -M
