I'm really hoping that the stuff in the trailer is not indicative of Brie Larson's acting in the movie because she seems a bit . . . bored?

I'm a little apprehensive that Captain Marvel will have problems balancing the action with the humour, I hope they don't take the movie too seriously.

Marvel Studios' Avengers: Endgame - Official Trailer Looks promising, wish it was playing now, we are trying to get a movie night going on at my work, I could have easily sent things in that direction.

Well, Brie Larson hasn’t endeared herself to everyone. Her comments “I do not need a 40 year old white dude to tell me what didn’t work for him about a wrinkle in time, it wasn’t made for him’. Hollywood again using another movie to push their political agenda, this time a call for ‘diversity’ in the entertainment coverage, although it is ok not to be inclusive with some segments. variety.com/video/brie-larson-crystal-lucy-awards-critics/An interesting fan review of those comments. I’m glad I didn’t fund that, but I know that it will still do ok.

I saw a newish Cap Marvel video that billed Jude Law as Yon-Rog instead of Mar-Vell.
Do they intend to excise Mar-Vell from the mythology?
This and Brie Larson's complete lack of charisma are making me think I might skip it until I get some field reports.

On the other hand, she and Samuel L. were the most natural presenters at the Oscars last night.

On the other hand, she and Samuel L. were the most natural presenters at the Oscars last night. Read that she trained hard for the role. She also had to comment about some guy who complimented her lifting ability, and she said something about the guy having to rethink his gender norms in some article. The fact that she can turn a genuine compliment into something ‘sexist’, now that’s just funny, but not unexpected. Toxic masculinity on my part, hope not, I did love Gal Gadot ( who calls herself a feminist ) as Wonder Woman and she is a true warrior, having served as a combat instructor in the Israeli Defence Force. As for Captain Marvel, I will get around to watching it…..for free somewhere, well maybe. I think the problem with Hollywood is that they haven't done enough research on female warriors, in real life, and from my reading on certain female combatants from WW2 they actually liked putting a little lippy on sometimes and did not shy away from sex. Than again, The Black Widow is sexy. Moving on

It's entirely possible the comment about the 70s outfits was made in jest and she meant "well" by all her other comments. But we're in a time where we're almost not allowed to take things as they are, they have to fit into this larger picture. I'll probably have no problem with the film, even Marvel's big "message" film BP is a completely enjoyable film regardless of whatever else is going on. If the viewer wants to find something else, it's there for them. If they don't, they can watch what's there and enjoy it.
There's a way to do and a way not to do it. There's also a way not to build expectations. I'll never forget back in 2004 when the original Gojira was going to be shown in the US for the first time, and all I heard was "Man, Honda really took it to the US about the bombs! They cut all that out for Raymond Burr." I saw it and I saw a film that had moments where it wanted people to think about taking care of things and be careful what they do. It wasn't a screed or diatribe, but a thoughtful film...with a guy in a big rubber suit smashing models. There's a deeper meaning there if you choose to look for it, if not the story works as it is. If the film ends up making little girls have a kind of role model like I did with the Duke and Luke Skywalker growing up, that's great. They just also have to make a film everyone can enjoy and so far, Feige has not dropped the ball on this front.

Captain Marvel Damage Control: Brie Larson Controversies Continue
Description: On February 21st, Brie Larson clarified some of her earlier comments that as of late haven taken on a life of their own. This clarification, and the subsequent articles in its wake, looks a whole lot like damage control, mandated by Disney.
Then you might wonder, why the need for damage control? Over the course of the last few days, we’ve seen social media reactions to the movie itself, proclaiming it to be one of the best Marvel movies yet, as well as articles claiming that the opening weekend projections are up from 100 to 120 million, so what’s the problem?
In this editorial, @andreeinherjar will explore just what this problem is, and explain why this is damage limitation; before moving onto the most recent boxoffice tracking figures, and finally, what the early social media reactions say about the movie - and how much stock we should put in those reactions.
