Nikolai 'The Beast' Valuev definitely has the Tatar look aged 10 in this photo with his friends. Yep, read all about it awhile back. I was looking for stuff on the Denisovans and it came up in the search. Still born in Russia and not to Finnish parents. Nikolai was an extreme example good for a one-liner. I suppose someone is going to say there are no big Russians now.

It's not a Tartar recessive gene. That massive thickening of the facial bones is indicative of acromegaly and the photo above shows it far more advanced than in the article's picture with his wife and son. Soon he'll have trouble breathing through his nose and the whole syndrome produces tremendous stress on the heart.

Hello Jmbroberts, Maybe, I should have added the previous line from the link at the Daily Mail.'Experts say Nikolay’s extraordinary height is down to a pituitary gland problem. His proud mother sees it as a recessive gene inherited from his Tartar warrior ancestors.'The above quote taken from the Daily Mail report merely demonstrates his mother's pride in his achievements and their Tatar ancestry. Here's the link www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1226073/The-Beast-East-aged-10---tender-poet-giant-boxer-Nikolay-Valuev.html

Ah, the delicate bone structure and elegance of Nikolai "The Beast" Valuev (click in at :45): Seven feet tall and quite the silver-tongued devil. Born in St. Petersburg, Russia. Maybe his parents were Finnish and changed their names? This man has acromegaly. Sadly, he's going to die young. Acromegalics rarely make it to 40. Nikolai is ok, hope the big guy lives a long time, apparently a good dad, and husband to his wife.
