I wasn't planning on starting this thread tonight, but I stumbled on this pic and it reminded me just how kickass and unique Fabian is. I got to meet him very briefly in 2006. He has done great artwork illustrating the fiction of Howard, Vance, Merritt, Lumley and many, many others. He also did some great work for TSR, like the piece below. So many great illos from this gifted artist.

Fabian can also do great color paintings. This is one of his classic illos for The Night Land...

Very early Fabian. Probably '65 or '66.

Queen of the Black Coast Portfolio, 1976 Cool find! I'd forgotten about that edition. Kansans were actually a force to be reckoned with in REH fandom during the 1970s (and not always for the good). Besides the HoF guys, there were also Byron Roark, Crispin Burnham and the Fenners.

I was really lucky, I picked up both of Fabian's Conan (Tower of the Elephant & Queen of the Black Coast) portfolios at a very reasonable price at the time.
