On the topic of "RPG News" it would appear that the rights to a DUNE RPG have been acquired by the same folks who make the new Conan RPG, the Star Trek RPG, and are soon launching the John Carter RPG. I figure this could be of interest to folks here, since several of those topics are also threads here. I assume that they will be using their own 2d20 game mechanic, which makes me a little sad because I still can't decide if I like the 2d20 system. I was so pumped to hear about Conan … then didn't buy it after looking at the quickstart rules. Then I was pumped about John Carter … and even got into the Alpha and Beta levels of playtest … but just didn't get "into" it and passed on the kickstart. (Still not sure if that was a bad idea or not. The minis look so cool.) Now I imagine a similar angst over Dune.

Same here, deuce. I used to love reading 'Wormy' in the back of Dragon magazine, and was really bummed out when he suddenly vanished. He was really an underrated artist.

I just learned that not only is today Walter Velez's birthday, but also that he died in August this year. I've always liked his art. He did a fair amount of work for TSR and other gaming companies back in the day: www.pandius.com/wvelez.html
