I've read it; it's pretty damn good actually. We get the opening scenes of the story, and some extension (Conan beats the shit out of the torturer). The buildup with Octavia on the island is very well done. All things said it's a good extension of the story

Agreed, and it's nice to enjoy the artwork too. Looking forward to the next issue!

I read the issue then compared it to the original story, Cullen doesn't waste any time! He got all the way to the beginning of Chapter 4, doesn't really leave much out AND finds room to extrapolate an incident. I do wonder how this is going to stretch out to issue #12. I wouldn't be surprised if the actual adaptation ends in #11 and #12 is a follow-up. I took a look back at earlier Slayer issues and Sergio's art has gotten better, especially his face for Conan. Good stuff.

I took a look back at earlier Slayer issues and Sergio's art has gotten better, especially his face for Conan. Good stuff. I hope they keep him around for awhile so he can improve even more. I remember thinking Giorello's art was pretty good early on, but then absolutely LOVING it as time went on. Perhaps the same could happen with Sergio down the road.

Sergio Davila's art has improved but not enough to make this anywhere near a classic adaptation. I think Dark Horse owe some kind of explanation concerning the recent delays, with this issue they had an opportunity to do exactly that, instead they chose to ignore the problem by not including a brief explanation in the non-existent Letters Page. I'm also kinda disappointed with the lack of accuracy in Davila's depiction of Conan: 'AS THE FIRST tinge of dawn reddened the sea, a small boat with a solitary occupant approached the cliffs. The man in the boat was a picturesque figure. A crimson scarf was knotted about his head; his wide silk breeches, of flaming hue, were upheld by a broad sash, which likewise supported a scimitar in a shagreen scabbard. His gilt-worked leather boots suggested the horseman rather than the seaman, but he handled his boat with skill. Through his widely open white silk shirt showed his broad, muscular breast, burned brown by the sun.'

Yep, the clothes are completely wrong. My guess is the thinking from DH Central is people are used to seeing him one way, so they may be put off by seeing him in Jerry Seinfeld's puffy shirt or something like that. Does anyone know if any other DH comic has any letter pages recently? I don't know if it's a line-wide thing or just this title. However, the book now looks and feels like a Conan book should so I'm willing to overlook inaccuracies like this. If this had happened in the pre-Wood era, I would have (and did if I recall correctly) raised more of an issue.
