It’s very different and that’s not a bad thing. The one really extraneous thread was the Imperial guy and his mother, it was close to sitcom material even though they tried to keep it dramatic. Andor’s mother…that’s another story. Great final reveal too.

I enjoyed Season 3 Episodes 1 and 2 of the Mandalorian but Episode 3 sucked. The majority of the episode is building toward how the First Order came to be and doesn't focus on Mando and Grogu. It's set on Coruscant and focuses on the geneticist from Season 1 and a random Imperial chick being reintegrated into the New Republic. Boring. They just don't understand that the sequel trilogy sucks and nobody gives a shit about anything that has to do with them.
The limited scenes at the start and end of the episode were focused on Mando and they were great.
It's a shame they are not retconning the new trilogy like many had hoped.

I thought this week's Mando was a damn fine episode. They brought in some dystopian "blade runner" vibes over from Andor. Looks like the New Republic isn't all hugs and positivity.
The Sequel flicks are out there and there's not much to do about it. The existence of The First Order wasn't the problem with those movies. Exploring how the Imperial remnant evolves into the first Order as a background element is a pretty good idea.

Please don't mention Blade Runner in the same paragraph as this soulless turd of an episode. I haven't seen Andor but I'm not really interested in filling in the gaps between movies. I enjoy the Mandalorian because he's a wandering ronin gunslinger. You're right about the sequel trilogy sadly, looks like we're stuck with that shit.

Andor was an interesting change of pace but a little offputting because it was 12 episodes instead of 6 or 8. You're expecting things to wrap up then they just kept going.

Just got done watching it. The fighter battle at the beginning was great...then it sort of slowed down from there. Needed to be cut in half and some things moved to next episode. Liked the Great Escape and Clockwork Orange references though.
If they're trying to make the point the New Republic was basically no better than the Empire...no wonder Luke went to the island planet and milked space manatees.

This sort of cynicism is my bag. At the end of return of the jedi the good guys win and celebrate with the Ewoks. Hurrah! But your average Joe Empire has three options: A New Republic re-education camp complete with brainwashing, treacherous informants and a mind sifter. Join the First Order. Make ends meet in the outer rim as a hired gun or smuggler. This is good stuff.

Favreau and Filoni are starting to focus more and more in this direction.

I found it rather interesting to see the darker side of the New Republic, and I'm thinking this episode is going to be important for upcoming developments that Din Djarin and Grogu are likely going to get sucked into. It seems that something nasty is happening to Dr. Pershing now, and maybe he'll be a threat (if he isn't dead)? I also like that Bo-Katan is weighing her options and considering joining with Din now that she is alone with no where else to go.

I thought it was funny that Bo-Katan is part of the "helmets on" gang now, whether she likes it or not. "Have you removed your Helmet?" "Well,..uhh..." "This is the way." "Dammit!"

Yes lol! She didn't seem so happy with that idea, but on the upside, it isn't too hard to get to the Living Waters now in order to repent.

Speaking of the living waters: Have we all seen Fulci's House by the Cemetery? The creepy blood collecting Droid/Creature put me in mind of Dr.Freudstein.

Regarding this week's episode of the Mandalorian... that's the best Star Wars I've seen since finishing the original trilogy for the first time. Going to be tough to top.
