A stained glass window of Jim's Cruitne, the goddess of the Cruitin who were the indigenous tribe of Ulster. Now a symbol of the Scots-Irish. It has been reinstalled in Bewley's Grafton Cafe, a Dublin landmark that is reopening after renovations. www.bewleys.com/ie/grafton-street-cafe/

Newgrange. Five thousand years old. I should've posted this on the winter solstice.

One of Jim's renditions of Saint Patrick. He's working on a new one as we speak.

The Dagda checkin' out some fine Irish womanhood... Good thing she's behind that star-shrouded disc-like object, or it would be awkward!

Jim did the artwork for Hackensack's Up the Hard Way. Here's what he had to say about it: "When Philip Lynott [of Thin Lizzy] saw this back in 1973 just after I did [the cover for] Vagabonds of the Western World, he asked me to be Lizzy's 'exclusive artist' for the band and only work for them. Worked out in the end."Regarding the obvious Jack Kirby influence on the artwork: "Kirby's extraordinary pencil work and comic book art influenced my own compositions hugely, especially in my more psychedelic early artworks, before Thin Lizzy covers or my Celtic Mythology art."I've seen remarks from some that Fitzpatrick was solely influenced by Barry Windsor-Smith. That just isn't the case. Not even close. Fitzpatrick was emerging as an artist maybe a year behind BWS. Both artists were influenced by Kirby. Ask Barry and he'll openly admit to the massive influence Kirby had on him early on. mm

Jim had this to say about Stan Lee (and Jack Kirby): "Excelsior! R.I.P Stan Lee.
Two men, Jack Kirby and Stan Lee, created a new and highly visual universe back in the 60s. I dipped into it so many times for my own art, including a few Thin Lizzy covers too, as both myself and Lizzy frontman Philip Lynott were Marvel comics fanatics. Thank you, Stan
I can never remember Stan the Man without mentioning Jack 'King' Kirby who I met at San Diego ComicCon -and who told me he loved my work. He was referring to my Book of Conquests work, not my many Kirby ripoffs
Thank you Stan. Jack too."
