A top-five Conan artist for me, along with Frazetta, Buscema, Nord, & BWS.

He is not in the same league of Frazetta, Buscema or BWS. A very good artist but still with some problems that prevent him from being among the greatest of all. His depictions of fighting scenes (specially fighting movements) and his portraying Conan as a hunchback leaves something to be desided.

Completely disagree. The hunchback thing for me is Conan subtly, tensely coiling to spring into action. Some of his action can be a little off but so was Nord's.

"Some of his action can be a little off but so was Nord's".
Agreed. Nord sometimes also had problems depicting fighting scenes, something Buscema, for example, never had. If there is something Buscema did like no other was drawing fighting scenes. Movements are very convincing, you can almost feel the weight of a sword in Conan's hand. All harmonious, nothing artificial, forced or out of proportion. As for the hunchback thing, there's a scene in The Phoenix on the Sword adaptation by Truman/Giorello where Conan is walking at night until a place where he meets Epemitrius. He is depicted as a hunchback during his way to a temple and at that time he is not springing into any action. It is just the way Giorello drew Conan sometimes: just like a hunchback, which I never liked at all. That is a minus in his work. Conan is supposed to be tall, agile and representing him as a hunchback is not a good way to start.
Anyway I don't think Tomás is overrated, I think he is a very good artist and I enjoyed his work on Conan. But those two issues sometimes prevented me from giving his comics a 10 out of 10. And had his work been colored by another artist, it would be even better. Villarrubia made some questionable choices when coloring Giorello's pencils and that also prevented it from being something even more special.

Giorello's great! He does fantastic full page scenes and double page montages too.

I can't seem to recall this one, especially with the lounging hyena at Conan's feet. Where is this from?

Robert E. Howard's Cimmeria: Adapted by Tim Truman and Tomas Giorello (Conan the Cimmerian 0) part 4 I love these double-page spreads, reminds me of the good ol' days with Big John Buscema.
