CBR has the first details of “Kull Eternal,” a new series set to launch in June from the creative team of writer Tom Waltz (a veteran of IDW’s “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” books) and artist Luca Pizzari (Marvel’s “Black Knight”). It’s a time-traveling “weird tale” that will place Kull in a modern setting, in action against the sinister Serpent Men.
Holy Valka! On top of everything else, their "Brule" is also a Pictafarian, just like DHC's was. What the hell is the obsession with turning Brule/the Picts into sub-Saharan Africans in direct contradiction to REH? Any chance of IDW getting my money is now gone.

Why is it that the comic industry can do whatever they want with these characters? I really wish that the powers that be would do a little research with some REH scholars, and find a few talented writers and come out with a few quality prose novels. These comics are starting to make the worst Tor novels look good...
WTF is going on with comics these days? Funny enough I just read through my SSof Kull collection the other day. Now some of the stories were a bit ropy, but he artwork is consistently high throughout. Artwork that makes me want to go back and look again and again. This new approach looks like someone has a computer program that churns out the same looking stuff all the time
And Kull as a kind of "Eternal Warrior"? Why didn't they just adapt Moorcock ffs?
"All I wanted was a sharp sword and a straight path to my enemies"
At least they're trying to find some rationale for it by using Mirrors of Tuzun Thune as a jumping off point (ironically the story DH should have done instead of the Hate Witch). But I disagree with their point that the Howard stories have been done enough. Most of them were just done once at Marvel, some better than others. There's plenty of material to mine. I haven't read them in years, but the Thomas-Cruz series didn't fill in all the early Kull gaps. I may take a look at the first issue but I'm not all that interested in "KULL...IN SPACE!!!" and the like.

True enough - that could form the start of an intelligent series. There were a couple of Marvel stories that had Kull turning up in Conan's time, or Conan and Solomon Kane together if I remember correctly. And, of course, there's Kings of the Night. But this is a far cry from Kull in Space, it would seem.
Thomas did a good job with time travel betwen Conan, Red Sonja and Kull. I have those numbers. And, as a story, it WORKED! But this... 😥 I mean, what the hell is this? New atrocity in the making? There are so manny better ideas if they sooo much wanna do time travel serial, just remember Kings of the Night. Wail is deep and rich with REHs ideas and one who understand it should only ask him self "what would HE do if he had lived"? What a bunch of moronic minds 😒 There's nobody out there with talent and love for Bob's work?
