I've been listening to the audio books via Audible. It's odd that they didn't stick with one narrator throughout the whole series, but I guess given how long this has been going on that's not surprising. I enjoy Jonathan Keeble's narration better than Tom Sellwood's, but it appears the next book I listen to (The Burning Land) will have a John Lee narration.
I enjoy the tv show, but these books are just so much better. I highly recommend them to anyone who's a fan of the tv show. They greatly expand on the tv storyline and hence, are just different enough to feel fresh.

Looks like we'll be getting an early Christmas present when Uhtred and Co. return in Series 3 later this year. It'll be interesting to see how the Netflix version differs (if at all) from the first two series made for the BBC. ...... Awesome! Didn't expect that I'm nearly done with the new novel, War of the Wolf, Cornwell hasn't lost his touch.

I get that adaptations need to simplify and even cut the source material...but Season 3 of the Last Kingdom is such a half-assed bastardization of Cornwell I find a hard time finding any redeeming qualities within it.
Other than the production values seemed to have improved over the first two seasons.

Season Five was released in Netflix earlier this week. This is the final season but a movie is on the way.
Overall the series wrapped up Uhtred's storyline quite nicely. As always the books are so much richer but the series did a good job.
There are three books left to adapt but we're getting at least one movie that is being billed as a standalone film that doesn't require you to know anything about the 5 seasons. Dreymon is reprising his role of Uhtred which is good.
It appears five seasons was always the plan because each season is two of Cornwell's novels and they inked the deal when 10 novels were in publication. Since then Cornwell wrote three more and ended the series. But this is a hit series for Netflix and I wouldn't be surprised if they do more passed this film.
