My Howard books: Bonus SSOC pic (including Thak lol): I actually haven't managed to finish these ones yet. I got partway through the Conan the Buccaneer adaptation and quit out of boredom.

The Conan the Buccaneer adaptation did go on a bit. But you have to admit the depiction of Princess Chabela by Buscema and Dezuniga was incredible.

That almost goes without saying, especially that first panel... Oh, and I should mention that I ordered the Bran Mak Morn and El Borak volumes just last night.

I don't have a bookshelf.. =/ And my selection is fairly limited..
But I have a nice view for reading!
My selections consist of: Conan the Conqueror, Conan of Cimmeria, Conan the Adventurer, Conan the Wanderer, Conan the Usurper, Conan, Conan the avenger - from Sphere books 1973 - 1974. Oh! and Conan the warrior and Conan the Freebooter from the same series. Missing from the photo, just found them.

Don't have a lot of pics of individual books/shelves, but this is the bookcase devoted to Howard stuff from a couple years back... There a few other sword & sorcery bits mixed in, but here's a bit of a close-up of the book (as opposed to comics) shelf... I am in the process of redoing that room and the shelf has been reorganized and new additions added (and a few purges removed) but I don't have more recent pics yet. I will when the room is done, but it's part of an overall house redo, so it will be a while yet. -M

Got a lot of the revamp done this weekend, but still have a ways to go, here's a preview of the revamped Howard section...this is in the comic room/library... the top 2 shelves are all either books by Howard or Howard pastiches. The bottom 3 shelves are all Conan comics-complete Marvel Conan the Barbarian and King Conan, near complete runs of Savage Sword (need less than 30 issues), Savage Tales (1 issue needed) and complete runs of Conan, Conan the Cimmerian and the minis form the Busiek era of DH COnan and other assorted Conan comics, and a few books about Conan and/or Howard. On the wall are the Figures Toy Company Conan, Kull and Solomon Kane figures, an Earl Norem Conan print, one of the Conan treasury editions, the Conan book and record set (see my avatar) plus prints by Sam Glanzman (Attu his prehistoric barbarian hero), Kubert Tor issues and other comic/fantasy/related stuff. Also in the room I have more sword & sorcery books, plus a Burroughs and Moorcock shelf (a glimpse of them here at the bottom of the pic... the green hardcover tucked away in the middle of the Burroughs shelf is one of my pride and joys, a 1918 1st edition of Tarzan of the Apes by Burroughs, the first time released in book form. My father-in-law found it for me at a farm auction just before my wife and I got married. When I get the room finished, I will take more detailed pics of the Howards and other books of interest (probably in 2 weeks as I am doing a toy show next weekend). -M

Finally got the room organized enough to take new pics of the Howards and related material I have for this rathe rthan the out of date pics I used before. First, the pulps... I only own a handful of actual pulp issues, and most feature Fafhrd & Grey Mouser stories form Lieber in their original appearances, but there is one Howard in the bunch... the Sept. 1952 issue of Space Science Fiction that features the first appearance of The God in the Bowl in print (albeit edited by de Camp). Here's the main shelf featuring Howard material in the room... atop the shelf I have the PVC Frost Giant based on the Frazetta designs and the Gary Gianni Conan sketchbook on display... and the first shelf features most of the Howard originals and the Ace/Lancer editions...in close up the left side of the shelf... and the right... the second shelf consists of Howard pastiches and other Howard paperback collections... again, the left... and the right... With the third shelf we move to Howard in comics form... a complete run of Marvel's Conan the Barbarian (1-275, all annuals & Giant-Size issues) some Howard and related material in trade... including the Barry Windsor-Smith archives (2 vols), the 9 issue run (plus slipcase) of Barry Windsor-Smith Storyteller, Conan the Phenomenon, the one volume released of the Conan comic strip, plus some of the Dark Horse trades for Kull & Solomon Kane among other things. Below that, as seen in the first pic of the shelf, is a near complete run of Savage Sword (I need about 20 issues) Savage Tales (1 need 1 issue) the Dark Horse Conan stuff up through Road of Kings, the post-Conan the Barbarian series stuff from Marvel (Adventurer is complete, working on the rest) and a handful of Conan Saga issues. Other stuff of interest to Howard fans in the room... The Edgar Rice Burroughs shelf... the green hardcover is my beat up 1918 first edition of Tarzan of the Apes. a shelf of books featuring Fritz Lieber, Lin Carter and others... The Michael Moorcock shelf, including books, comics and trades... a shelf of Lovecraft and friends (Clark Ashton Smith, Lord Dunsany-and well Mary Shelley and Bram Stoker sneak in too) a shelf of KArl Edward Wagner, John Jakes, and sword & sorcery anthologies... and that's about it for Howard and related material, mostly. -M

My REH Del Rey/Wandering Star books. I have no phone or camera, so I had to balance the books very carefully on the scanner.

Over the years I have sold my comic collection, including most of my Conan comics. But, I had The Queen of the Black Coast run bound beautifully in these 2 volumes, there are no fill-in issues, unfortunately no covers. These 2 volumes are my only Conan comics I have in color!! I was very lucky in 2012, at least I think it was, if I remember correctly. Anyway, Roy Thomas was in London for the Comic Con and I got to meet my favorite writer and he signed both volumes for me.
