I'm a huge Vin Diesel fan, and am completely in his corner for any genre project he wants to take on. I'm a huge fan of the Riddick character, especially in the Chronicles of Riddick. I was hoping The Last Witch Hunter would be another dark fantasy franchise to watch starring Vin, but by Crom was this movie horrible.
The plot was cookie cutter, the script was a convoluted mess, and the villains were just pathetic. The main bad guy...I think the extras had more charisma. This movie had no substance what-so-ever.
I'd say the Last Witch Hunter might be worth a RedBox rental for the flashback scenes showing Vin in D&D mode, but that's about it. Such a disappointment and my expectations weren't that high.

That's a disappointment I was hoping this would be a good one.

I've heard this movie is based on Vin's old D&D character he used to play - the same one his character from the Fast & Furious franchise has tattooed on himself. I might check it out from the library one day...

Vin's career just has not gone that well lately. Sorry to hear this.

They're currently filming the sequel to xXx and the Melkor tattoo is back. The character he plays in The Last Witch Hunter is named Kaulder. I do remember hearing he played a Witch Hunter in D&D, though. I think some video game concept art featuring that character was up on the Tigon Studios website before the site got taken down. I think it was actually called, Melkor Witch Hunter or something to that effect. The Riddick video games were damn good, but I don't think any of the other Tigon Studios projects worked out. I was looking forward to Melkor Witch Hunter and Barca B.C.

I wish he'd just stop doing all these side projects and just focus on Fast & the Furious to pay the bills, and doing the next Riddick movie.
The Last Witch Hunter was a giant waste of time. I so wanted to like this. There's a commentary track that I just have to listen to. I'm not sure who is on it, but it should be interesting to see what they have to say about the finished product.

LOL, that would make sense. No need to anger the Tolkien Estate.
