Our own RobP gets us off to a good start. Short but insightful:

I've said this before but, why can't we have nice hard-bound reprints like this in English?

I've said this before but, why can't we have nice hard-bound reprints like this in English? Right on. Things like this are why I didn't post Rob's video in a straight SSoC thread. There are different editions of reprints out there. There is also a question of what was reprinted and what was left out from the original SSoCs. Plenty of questions for a specific thread.

It'd be great for DH to collect the first Roy Thomas run on SSOC in a deluxe hardback set - including all the back-up stories, letters-pages, articles and all the covers in color. I was very disappointed when this publication failed to materialise.

Getting at least the Conan material all reprinted was a step in the right direction. And generally it proved to be the proper decision at least sales-wise, the trades were fairly consistent sellers for DH, even better than the color versions towards the end. It's also nice to have the Kull and Solomon Kane stories in their own separate collections.
It would be great to have complete issues collected as a sort of companion series, but I'm not sure of the feasibility of it due to rights issues (Bront and Chane come to mind). That's basically the reason DH took the route it did: We have the rights to Conan, Kull and SK. We could get this material out now or wait and try to get the rights to everything and possibly have it never come out. Better something than nothing.

Yeah, I think the phonebook editions are great value for $20. But, I feel now that all the SSOC issues have been collected it'd be great to reprint the first 60 issues in hardback. I think Bront and Chane were introduced after the 60th issue. I also noticed at the comic-shops in London how the later SSOC sold much better than the color Conan graphic novels.
