Thanks. I'm in at the level that gets me caught up with anything I missed.

With a week left to go on the Kickstarter The Skull has almost quadrupled its funding goal. So issues 3 and 4 and subscriptions for the ongoing magazine are set to roll.
Take a look. It’s worth scanning if only to read some of the updates, many from the irascible, undead, Sword & Sorcery-loving Skull himself.

It still boggles my mind that we’re getting a magazine focused entirely on Sword & Sorcery with these kind of production values, stories and artwork.

Awesome this is doing so well!
My only regret about it is the lack of stretch goals... so many rpgs have really good stretch goals as funding goes, which entices more backers, etc.
OTOH, I'm sure it's expensive to do a magazine in print these days, so I'll just be happy to take what I can get, which in this case is a kick-ass S&S print magazine!
Long live the skull!
PS - If you're reading this and haven't backed, may your eyes melt slowly, and your ancestor's lament your reticence!

O Magnificent Skull!
You have heard the cries of this lowly worm and granted stretch goals!
Love Live the Skull!

A number of nifty stretch goals have been added and I believe there are more to come.
The updates now include a batch of cool essays about Sword and Sorcery which I recommend even if you are uninterested in the Kickstarter.
William King turned in a fine piece about his favorite Sword and Sorcery story (which basically finds the best examples of the genre to be so exalted that choosing a favorite is impossible/absurd) and C.L. Werner supplies an excellent piece on REH's Valley of the Worm.
I wrote a little essay on my favorite Sword and Sorcery book cover ever. And no, amazingly enough, it wasn't painted by Frank Frazetta.
Only three days left on the Kickstarter. Check it out if you haven't.

20 hours left to go and the Kickstarter has beaten its funding goal by better than 500%.
The latest update features a gallery of images selected from issues past and yet to come. Walking a fine line between classic pulp magazine illustrations and old school RPG art, this stuff is wonderful and stands in bold defiance of the mechanical trends in modern fantasy art.

Mentioned this in the Fafhrd & the Grey Mouser thread, but it's a real coup for the Skull. goodman-games.com/blog/2020/10/21/all-new-fafhrd-and-the-gray-mouser-stories-to-be-published-in-tales-from-the-magicians-skull/A serious Fafhrd and the Grey Mouser pastiche tale will appear in issue #6 of Tales from the Magician’s Skull. The Skull is one of the most beautifully produced genre magazines out there, and it ONLY deals with Sword & Sorcery. There is nothing else like it and I think this development is likely to boost its bandwidth. As an aside, I have on reasonably good authority that the mag will be accepting submissions during the first few months of 2021. So if you have a story in you-- work it up and polish it. This is a great place to see your work.

I also seen the news about open submissions accepting in the New Year. I've been hoping for this to happen for quite some time; I'm gonna give it my best shot and submit a new Gunnolf tale as soon as it opens up.

The time has come to talk of submitting stories to Tales From the Magician’s Skull. The magazine will be open for submissions from January 22, 2021 through April 1, 2021. This is an exceptionally polished and beautiful magazine, as well produced as any currently available--- and it only publishes Sword & Sorcery. It is, in short, an exceptionally fine place to submit a Sword and Sorcery story. And I suspect a good many of you have written, begun or thought up a story in the genre. This is me being encouraging. Write that story. Wrestle the damn thing down on paper. Rewrite it until it seems smooth, then read it out loud to yourself to prove just how wrong you can be. Hammer it into shape, polish it up, then send it in. There are so many people on this site with writing chops and a heartfelt appreciation of Sword and Sorcery that I’m dead certain that great work could come out of here. I want to read it. Here’s where to start… goodman-games.com/tftms/2020/10/20/announcing-open-call-for-sword-sorcery-fiction-for-tales-from-the-magicians-skull/
