I dont think a real Conan has a chance in Hollywood, to much racism against powerful white males...it could get made in Russia though, lots of great sword slinging movies coming out of there in recent times

I'm with Megatron insofar that I would rather have no Conan series than a bad, "Conan light" series that makes the character unrecognizable. It's not about politics but about wanting to see ROBERT E. HOWARD's Conan. I wish Nispel's Conan would not have been made. All it did was making even more people think they know all about Conan, that he's a generic s&s character who wants to avenge the slaughter of his parents. I want to see the series and say "yeah, THAT's Conan! The badass that I've been admiring for 40 years."
Well, congratulations then, since you got what you wanted -- it is even very possible this forum and all the right wing talk played a role in this TV show's cancellation.
I would say that this reasoning you expressed here would be the same as if Tarzan fans stood up and demanded that Weissmuller Tarzan films production is stopped because Tarzan is different in the books. But if there wasn't Weissmuller's Tarzan, there would be no Tarzan's presence in pop-culture. That is the problem with being a puritan: the only really pure thing is nothing.
Also, interesting thing, this, how right wingers like you were pushing things towards the exact same outcome that the liberals were also pushing forward to -- the cancellation of this series.

I don't mind politics but what first Megatron and now Themirrorthief are saying is simply obscene.

Once again you are wrong and like I've seen you do in numerous other posts with other members you misinterpret what I've said and take it out of context (I think you do this purposefully). I don't want Conan made with Jennifer Salke at the helm because I fear that she would have done everything in her power to turn it into Conan the Soymerrian. I stand by this statement. I'm glad its cancelled with Salke at the helm. As for Mel Gibson making a Conan movie I think that would be awesome.
That is exactly what I said you said. You are simply trolling again, or your reading leaves something to be desired? ...And that (what you said) is also the reason why I wrote what I did i.e. that you are more interested in promoting your political agenda and less interested in Conan. Which comes from you not wanting to see a version of Conan that doesn't coincide with your politics, because of which you said you are are glad that they cancelled the show. Which is, by the way, extremely narcissistic. And misguided, too, because Conan is sword and sorcery first and foremost, and not about politics.
Yep again you purposefully misrepresent what others say. I've seen you do it for pages on this thread already, lol. Sad. Dude I don't give a crap about politics with regards to Conan that's the point. I don't want politics intertwined in any adaptation of Conan. I want my politics separate from my entertainment as most people I know do. I don't want it in my football, basketball, MMA or my movies. Simple as that. I would be okay with Gibson being involved with a Conan project because I like Gibson's movies that he has directed (Braveheart) and I believe he would understand what makes Conan awesome. Simple as that. Stop trying to put words into my mouth that I haven't said.

I think the most likely would be Disney/Marvel but not any time in the near future, maybe after the Red Sonja movie. I think the Red Sonja movie is a complication for Conan returning to screen anytime soon, if RS is a dud it may sour the market for Sword and Sorcery movies but if it is a hit they may wait a year or two so it doesn't look like they are trying to ride the coattails. That said I do think we'll see an animated Conan movie in a year or two if the new Marvel comics do well. Yeah, an animated Conan movie adaptation would be great, hand-drawn proper old school style. No rotoscoping though. That would be AMAZING!!!

What, that I disagree with you? Wow that really is obscene. Anyone disagrees with you it must be obscene... they must be racists and sexists and islamaphobes etc... feel free to insert whatever label you want, know one cares what you want to call people anymore. You are hilarious

How many of you were on the old Conan . com boards when someone leaked the first draft of what would eventually be the Nispel movie? Anyone else remember Lionsgate threatening to sue anyone caught posting the script on the forums? Man that was one awful script. Many of us knew at that point that the project was doomed... and from there it went from bad to worse.

That script was worse than the actual movie.

@ Megatron Back in the day I would always go to "The Conan Movie Blog.com". I don't know if thats the one your talking about or not. I watched that project closely and WOW. It was off to a bad start from the get go. Multiple re-writes, no lead actor or director until the last moment. I think I remember something about four armed archers in the first script. Also, two writers took on the task of re-writing the script and they were big REH fans. I don't recall their names, but they wrote the script for "Outlander", a cool movie IMHO. But, while they where working on their script, Brett Ratner was in talks to direct and he read one of the earlier (crapy) scripts and said "It's great"! So the powers to be went with that one. I also DO NOT like politics in my entertainment. Conan comics are back at Marvel in 2019, could they go to Netflix with this project? If anything, they could do a series on the old Marvel comics from the 70's and 80's that Roy Thomas did at Netflix. Netflix is down to show violence. Just look at the "Punisher". I don't really know what should be done, but this whole thing just sucks.

That first script had werewolves in it and everyone was like WTF, lol. Yes Ratner's influence tainted that movie. Nice memory my man!
