This number wasn't too bad either, looks to be in the middle of the True Believer pack 191 True Believers Conan Serpent War #0 9,530 But looking at the past few months, someone could come to the conclusion that Conan sells better in the modern age than the Hyborian one.

Disappointing drop between SW 1 and 2 considering there was only a couple of weeks between them especially as there's only 4 issues. I guess there's a lot of variant cover collectors/#1 speculators only interested in getting #1's these days.

Yeah, the sales figures for the Serpent War and all minis have been disappointing. Hopefully, Savage Avengers and Jim Zub's run on CtB can stay above 30k - I guess those kinda figures can be considered average these days.
I'm not impressed by the preview of Dark Agnes, it has no chance.
They gotta do something right, Solomon Kane or Kull, Maybe?

Maybe it's not that Conan sells better in the modern age, but likely, the sales are boosted by fans of the other Marvel characters. Remember, he doesn't appear solo in the modern age. You have Dr. Doom, Dr. Strange, Elektra and others to pull up the sales figures. Conan, in fact, might be besides the point for many readers.

I can't see Saladin's Conan: Battle for the Serpent Crown doing that well after the 1st issue. Apart from Wolverine, the other Marvel characters in the Savage Avengers sell no better than Conan in their own books.

No surprise there. The titles in general have been crap.

Yeah... the trouble is that the Marvel that gave us some of the best Hyborian Age stories this side of Howard was made up of specific people working in a specific time and place. The chances of the current ÉMarvel ever catching that particular lightning in a bottle is slim at best.

It would be a very good move.

What's interesting is with all the hype of Conan back at Marvel , with their superstar writer on the title , multiple variant covers , the talk of all the readers of the cross-over crap going to check out the main title , CtB #12 only sold 23,679 copies against DH's Conan # 12 which sold over 39k.

Wow, have things changed in 15 years! I think what’s going on now bears some similarities to the 70s in that it’s probably part of the agreement that something called CONAN is printed every month on some iteration. As we see from the numbers above the real draw is the reprint market (and good call on the PAD Hulk Omni out there, why Marvel resisted for so long I have no idea).

You're on to something there, johnny. I think it's safe to say that the mandate is there will be x amount of Conan titles published every month and Marvel is banking on the reprint material to justify licensing the character, everything else is just icing on the cake, so to speak.

CTB pops for a new team, Savage Avengers holds steady, Battle draws an ok #1 total (but unsure of how it'll hold up over the 5 issues) and Agnes does...ok
I'm surprised Valeria was that high. It came and went without a ripple. At least Belit got a strong reaction (albeit almost totally negative)
