With the Conan yarns in Public Domain in Europe it looks like the talent in Italy will follow the French with their very own series! Re Conan – Il Re Cimmero (King Conan - The Cimmerian King)
Here's a brief introduction to the series thanks to googletranslate.
The first Italian publisher and team working on Re Conan - Il Cimmero King Recently Marvel Comics has announced that it has taken over the rights and licenses for Conan the Barbaro from the Dark Horse Comics, which owned the rights until the end of 2018 ... and this happens in the USA.
In Europe the French have arrived there first and Glénat has begun work, now known, for the adaptation of the 12 stories of Rober E. Howard on the most known barbarian in the planet. However, Glénat's works can not be published in the States because the work of Howard is now in the public domain, but only in the Old Continent.
But what happens in Italy? The Weird Book brand and its creative studio, Leviathan Labs, have set up a super team of authors composed by Massimo Rosi, Alessio Landi, Luigi Boccia, Luca Panciroli, Federico De Luca and Alessandro Bragalini, while the colors will be Marco Antonio Imbrauglio and the lettering Mattia Gentili.
The concept is mostly simple: Conan is King and is old; a terrible new threat will shake his old bones and force him to reckon with evil and his past.
The team is already working hard to release a first book of about 134 pages for February 2019. The comic will be distributed by Pan Distribution.
In short, we at Weird are weird, but we are ready. Every week updates on the work in progress will be given and soon you will be able to enjoy the first and, for now unique, version of CONAN all made in Italy.

Got some more art from Luca Panciroli. Not exactly the greatest rendition of King Conan.

This looks damn good. I think the Italians are going to give the French a run for their money.

So is this going to be some kind of sequel to the Tower of the Elephant I wonder? With Yara returning years later after some kind of cosmic experience inside the Heart of the Elephant?

It looks like one of the volumes will include the return of Yara. The first King Conan volume is expected to be released in February 2019. I dunno if the very first volume will be the Tower of the Elephant sequel. I also think it would be nice if Marvel considered releasing the upcoming Conan books as graphic novels next year, like the Europeans - it's obvious the old format is in decline and will carry on to do so in the future. Maybe, the way ahead for Marvel and DC is to release at least some titles as original graphic novels.

Terry Yeah, it'll be interesting to see how it goes. Ed Brubaker, Sean Phillips, and Elizabeth Breitweiser also have an Original Graphic Novel out in October this year. Maybe things will start to change, very slowly, I think. www.theouthousers.com/index.php/news/140461-amazon-lists-new-brubaker-phillips-ogn.html

Yeah, looks like it'll be an interesting series. I hope Marvel gets to translate this series - with the Glénat adaptations most Conan fans can kinda work out the story, but, with this pastiche work we definitely need a translation. What am I saying? Marvel should translate both the French and Italian Conan comics and publish omnibus editions of the Roy Thomas run on CtB and SSOC And probably consider publishing their own new material, eventually
