For those that missed out on the first volume, you're in luck! it'll be reprinted next year. Conan the Barbarian: The Original Marvel Years Omnibus, Volume 1Written by ROY THOMAS with BARRY WINDSOR-SMITH, JOHN JAKES, MICHAL MOORCOCK and JAMES CAWTHORN Art by BARRY WINDSOR-SMITH with GIL KANE and JOHN BUSCEMA Collecting CONAN THE BARBARIAN #1-26 from 1970-1973—as well as material from 1971’s SAVAGE TALES #1 and #4, CHAMBER OF DARKNESS #4, and CONAN CLASSIC #1-11—the CONAN THE BARBARIAN: THE ORIGINAL MARVEL YEARS omnibus presents each story in all its glory, from covers to letter pages, all painstakingly restored to match the beauty of the original editions.
Relive the early exploits of Conan across shining kingdoms of an age undreamed of, as he becomes thief, slayer and a legend. They'll have reprinted almost if not all of the contents of this in the Epic format by next year and still Marvel is confident enough to reprint it, that's great news. I guess, the interest is still there for the omnibus editions, more than the new stuff from the looks of it

Hopefully we get the Barry Windsor-Smith cover. I don't wanna see that Cassaday ever again.

Hopefully we get the Barry Windsor-Smith cover. I don't wanna see that Cassaday ever again. I'd have to research it, when they've gone back to print on something like this, have they opted for the DM version over the standard? It'd kind of nullify the point of having exclusives (leading back to the decline of the industry conversation) but if there's enough of a demand I'd guess anything's possible.

Usually, the reprints have the original (Direct Market) cover. I guess we'll have to wait and see what Marvel decide - as long as they don't go for that horrendous Cassaday cover again. Marvel could go for both covers. I think the Direct Market and regular covers are available for the upcoming reprints of the Wolverine, Uncanny X-Men and Silver Surfer omnibus editions.

Where do you guys go to buy these with the DM covers? Have you found a copy with the DM cover? I dunno if I can help you. I live in London, and the only place I have managed to find the DM cover (last copy) is at the Forbidden Planet store in London.

I can find 2 and 3 with DM cover, but 1 is too damned expensive. I'll wait for the second printing.
That is, if I decide to even collect these. I'm torn. I really want all those tasty extras, but I don't have any space left on my shelves...

It is nice to pick the DM original covers when you can, but not really essential. After all that. I have to admit I cannot stand the Cassaday cover and replaced it with a printed version of BWS's Conan Saga cover so I do not have to see it anymore: The same with the Simone Bianchi cover for the 2nd SSOC volume. I printed this cover:

Ha! Yeah too bad the standard covers are so awful on the omnibus editions. But you're right, they're just dust jackets, and the actual covers look pretty nice. I hate dust jackets anyway - sometimes I even throw them away. I have a full run of SSOC, so at least I won't be tempted by those omnibus volumes too

Keep hold of your full run of SSOC - I got rid of my SSOC not so long ago and regret it now. I don't think SSOC reads as well in the omnibus format.

Yeah I'm definitely hanging on to it. It was expensive to piece together from eBay purchases, but it was worth it. I only completed it last year, and the prices are already going up!
I also have a full run of Conan Saga, along with all the other black and white Conan and Kull mags with the exception of Savage Tales #1 - I refuse to pay that much for a comic!

Thanks Hun that was very interesting. The reviewer deserves more views.
Especially appreciated his commentary on Roy Thomas' modular multi-part story arc technique which (imho) modern comics can learn alot from to help improve reader satisfaction and thus sales:
Marvel have done a magnificent job with those reprint Omnibus volumes.
