You are very prolific mirrorthief, a handy trait for any writer. I've seen your stuff in a fair few places: here, the old messageboard, Waldgeist's forum, DA, and one other site I can't remember the name of.

I posted a lot of long stuff on adultfanfiction.net my stuff isnt that adult, I just liked the freedom you have there to write anything without having to worry about censorship or whatever I am called Boye there always liked that name, learned later some famous poet used that name too

maybe fan fiction doesnt matter...guess I will stick to poetry >>>> FAN FICTION DOES MATTER ! [ i could write a vibrant long essay about the great value and entertainment of good fan fiction. but i won't, because i have not got such time. ] Most keen fans like to read some new fanfic short tales [ and poems ] while they wait for the next novel, film, or game from their fave genre /franchise. The ONLY future creativity for a franchise where the famous Writer is dead [ like this REH fandom ] is through good fanfic from talented keen writers. [ most successful writers began practicing their art with short tales about their fave fanfic subjects. they often have to perfect their craft [ and fanbase ] with lots of good short stories, to impress greedy publishers. And lots of amateur writers love creating short tales, and never can invest lots of time in a novel length project. ] Swords & sorcery is far more entertaining in intense action packed short tales. >>>> FEEDBACK : if you enjoy your own writing, then do not let a lack of much feedback put you off. Most fan readers will enjoy your tales, but they wont post positive feedback comments and encouragement. just because they cant be bothered, or they lazily leave it to someone else - like me? we all lead busy lives, but it only takes 2 minutes to post a quick 'thankyou - i liked that' comment. most readers do not realise that good feedback is VITAL to encourage the writer to create MORE. [ much more fanfic /fan poetry would be posted on this forum site if more readers actually posted some quick positive feedback. ] I have been posting lots of positive feedback for years because i know how important it is for every writer's motivation and self belief. So FAN FICTION is vital, and is much more popular than the meagre feedback suggests. >>>> your solomon Kane tales are some of your very best fanfic. you are a multi-talented writer. many thanks for all your tales. keep up the good work.

I hope that makes senxe While I think I would enjoy an in-depth discussion of fanfics, I'm not real good at initiating such discussion. I usually can only muster up a "good job" or something equally non-committal.
I don't feel qualified to offer up any real criticism.
As far as your stuff goes, I'd like to see more of this:

Your Solomon Kane tales are enjoyable, as well as the Belit pastiche you started.

I have about 4 or 5 short stories planned out with notes and whatnot, I just need to type them out. A good time to do that would have been over the Christmas holidays, but I chose to sit on the couch eating and binge watching Battlestar Galactica.
This past weekend I was all set to write, but we had houseguests who overstayed their welcome. >_<
I've also been drawing a lot moe in my free time lately.
Maybe this weekend I'll have time, but I'm no longer sure which of these planned yarns I want to execute..

Haven't been doing much new writing of late for painting, but have been editing my Mars novels. They were so long it was decided to split each in half, which instantly converted them from a trilogy to a 6-book series. My wife tells me I'm wordy, and I guess this bears that out in truth! So while I'm at it, I'm not just finding a good split-point, but re-reading with an eye toward trimming any fat, which has been a great learning experience. When you take a critical look at your work, unless you're already in the habit of doing so, you may find many areas to closely examine, cut, reword, etc. I converted some stuff from narrator to dialogue between a couple characters, and am finding that little changes like that really enhance the reading experience. Char-Vell mentioned future writing projects. I left myself an opening to write a sequel to my Atlas yarn, but don't see me getting around to that this year. I have a series I began (Volume I is published) that I want to expand. I have about 80%-85% of Volume II written and the cover art is complete (you can see that here), and have set the goal to finish this novel and get it published this year. After this, I have at least two more volumes in planning. It's a fun series to write, and I love the characters. It isn't fan fiction per se, but the character is the most Howard-based character I've ever written. Imagine Solomon Kane meets Esau Cairn. Powerful build, and constantly tangling with supernatural bad guys (not vampires and <yawn> werewolves - but the kind of crap Lovecraft like to put puling milk-saps up against, but who came away mad and screaming). Ansen Grost doesn't scream. He reacts more like Conan - he sinks his tomahawk into its forehead (his tomahawk is an Arapho token of power designed by Father Sky to combat supernatural vileness, so yeah - it can sink into an other-dimensional bad guy's brain pan). The series is set in the roaring 20's, which is a time frame I really enjoy writing in. It's a pre-digital age, lots of things haven't been discovered yet and the world was still a big place. A globetrotter like Ansen can get into a lot of trouble without Google Earth peering over his shoulder. Happy writing, all!
