An all-star panel on HPL and the Lovecraft Circle. The panelists were Fritz Leiber, Robert Bloch, Jack Williamson, Edmond Hamilton, Emil Petaja and E. Hoffman Price. Price was the only pro writer to ever meet REH and HPL and Clark Ashton Smith.

A quick drawing my wife did at the Origins Game Fair a few years back as a contest entry for the company that puts out the game Call of Catthulu...  - i have a fondness for most cats and dogs, so catthulhu pics creep me out a bit. Good art.  |

Announcing a new Lovecraftian anthology, open to submissions.
“What do moderns know of life and the forces behind it? You call the Salem witchcraft a delusion, but I’ll wage my four-times-great-grandmother could have told you things. They hanged her on Gallows Hill, with Cotton Mather looking sanctimoniously on. Mather, damn him, was afraid somebody might succeed in kicking free of this accursed cage of monotony—I wish someone had laid a spell on him or sucked his blood in the night!”
H.P. Lovecraft, Pickman’s Model
Richard Upton Pickman looked beyond the veil and brought forth the true grotesquerie of life onto canvas, so much so that his patrons could not bear to look at it. Have you not ever speculated how Pickman’s eyes were opened? Did you ever ponder the background for some of his lesser known canvases? Did he ever dabble in other media? Did he have students? What happened at one of the soirees in the decadent corners of Boston? What ever happened to his original works? Did he have an inner circle, a family, a lover? These are the stories we want to read.
We are looking for previously unpublished stories that relate to Pickman’s life or work, or similarly themed ideas. That’s quite a broad subject! One of our favorite recent Pickman stories is Pickman’s Other Model by Caitlin Kiernan. We are more interested in clever ideas and high quality prose than devotion to worn out tropes. Previously submitted stories are OK, just not previously published. Submissions by new authors and those of diverse backgrounds are encouraged. We do not publish pornography or diatribes of any kind.
Specifics: Stories may be a maximum 6,000 words. Payment is $.01 (one cent) per word and one complimentary copy of the completed anthology but opportunity to buy more copies at cost. We will have a rolling acceptance process. Our goal is to try to complete the book and have it published August, 2017, before NecronomiCon. Please submit your story in Microsoft Word format, readable by the 2010 version.
Remember what Thurber said: “That’s because only a real artist knows the actual anatomy of the terrible or the physiology of fear—the exact sort of lines and proportions that connect up with latent instincts or hereditary memories of fright, and the proper colour contrasts and lighting effects to stir the dormant sense of strangeness. I don’t have to tell you why a Fuseli really brings a shiver while a cheap ghost-story frontispiece merely makes us laugh.”
