Heston would have knocked it out of the park. In that era I would for Vincent Price as Xaltotun. El Cid is a damn good movie. One of Scorsese's favorites. I have to go with Char-Vell on Price. Better as Nabonidus. Xaltotun was a tall, imposing guy--though not as tall as some have tried to imply--with a sepulchral voice. I still vote for Lee. Price would've worked as Tsotha-Lanti, though, IMO. Or in his later Corman phase, Price could've also done Pelias as well.

Had to google this one... The Black Shield of Falworth has been on quite a few times on freeview recently You hear similarly accented dialogue from Curtis--straight out of the fjords of Brooklyn--in The Vikings. Of course, who can forget Ahnie's "Yoo kilt mein muttah und mein faddah!" in CtB? This one is from the "Play It Again, Sam" category-not only does he not say in in this film, he doesn't say it in the film he supposed to have said it in either, Son of Ali Baba. Now, if you want Mr. Schwartz's Brooklyn accent in an inappropriate older setting, hard to beat Spartacus's "I'm a singa of sawngs".

Now, if you want Mr. Schwartz's Brooklyn accent in an inappropriate older setting, hard to beat Spartacus's "I'm a singa of sawngs". It's one of those apocryphal Hollywood stories that you want to be true, like the director telling John Wayne to deliver a line with a bit more awe, and The Duke obliging with "Aw, truly this man is ... etc". TC wrote about it later in his book: Son of Ali Baba was the movie where I gave a line that people unjustly made fun of for years afterward. There’s a scene where I’m on horseback and Piper is sitting next to me, and I say to her, “Yonder in the valley of the sun is my father’s castle [sic].”
After the film came out, Debbie Reynolds ... went on television and said, “Did you see the new guy in the movies? They call him Tony Curtis, but that’s not his real name. In his new movie he’s got a hilarious line where he says, ‘Yonder lies the castle of my fodda.'”
Years later, Hugh Hefner came up to me at a party and said, “Yonder lies the castle of my fodda.'”
I looked at him coolly. “Hef, I never said that.”
“Then don’t tell anybody,” he said. “It makes a great movie story.”
...... Kind of like how Larry Storch was performing in Vegas in the late 50s and during a Cary Grant impersonation, he saw Judy Garland get up to leave and started running after her: "Judy! Judy! Judy!"

What about Torin Thatcher as Nabonidus? Interesting. I could see that.

Yep, Lee could have been a first rate early 60's Xaltotun, there's a glimpse of him in evil action about a minute into this trailer for Hercules in the Haunted World (a good flick IMO)

I was always fascinated by Price's hands...they were so freaking huge and his voice was so distinct

Jane Seymour and Taryn Power from Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger would have been a must have for the cast too

Tom Baker was really good at playing villains.
He's pretty much set in stone as Dr. Who for most.

What if ... a Conan movie was created years before? Maybe in the 1930s?
Is it funny or sad that the TV show actually WORKS on the level of a 1930s movie! (Fan made opening tittles, scenes from the TV series Conan the Adventurer, starring Ralph Moeller.)
