Cool stuff. Marvel are giving me almost exactly what I wanted from their relaunch so far, trying hard to not get too optimistic! The creative teams on this and Age of Conan will be crucial of course. Jason Aaron will be at New York Comic Con on the 'Marvel Comics: Next Big Thing' panel next week, so hopefully some more Conan news then.

No surprise there, but thanks for the update!
So it will be "Conan the Barbarian" vol.2, "The Savage Sword of Conan" vol.2, any guesses for the third?
I'll place my bet on "King Conan".

Nice! If it's not in the traditional old school magazine format, a Marvel MAX series would be cool. Not sure if they still have the MAX imprint or not.

Will it be black and white? Does Marvel even produce black and white magazines, at all, anymore?

There are people putting out Warren style mags right now: www.thecreepsmagazine.com/preview.htmlMarvel could easily revive Savage Sword in the original format. Probably at 8 or 9 bucks an issue. 😟

I'm pretty sure Marvel don't publish anything Black and White anymore, or magazine format, and I'd be surprised if went in that direction for this. The MAX imprint is still around but they haven't published much under it over the last few years. Actually, I can't remember anything not written by Garth Ennis being published in MAX for the last five years or so. It would be great if the SSOC was MAX but it kind of seems unlikely. Hopefully we'll get more news on the direction they're taking with these soon.

Dark Horse revived Creepy and Eerie in black and white. I bought the hell out of them but it didn't last long. Maybe they'll revive those again, they could use some title to replace everything they keep losing to Disney.
I expect the new SSoC will be another standard sized color comic, but i'll hold on to my hopes.

But I think you're right it'll probably be standard comic book size, I think retailers will not order as many magazine sizes copies so it probably makes sense. I just hope we get around 50 pages worth of story each issue with the artwork in Black & White... and a painted cover.

I would like to see SSOC revived in its old magazine format, at least with the black & white art, and the painted cover as Hun noted above. Of course I don’t expect it to be the same as the SSOC of the 70’s/80’s, but I hope they are able to get that right mix that made SSOC great, especially the earlier issues, namely storytelling, violence, gore, monsters, sex and cool art, maybe some REH adaptations. Come early next year I will be checking it out.

Some info from NYCC/Mavel.com Creative team is Greg Duggan (writer), Ron Garney (art), Richard Isanove (colours) "Conan cleaves his way across the high seas and into a deadly new adventure." "I hope it has all the hallmarks of a great Conan tale. It starts on the high seas, there’s treasure, there’s fighting, there’s a potential romance, there’s a little bit of comedy, and there’s Conan swinging all kinds of weapons at death cultist’s heads." - Greg Duggan Cover by Alex Ross: Also "There will be serialized Novellas at the end of each Conan issue." - not sure if this referring to Savage Sword or Barbarian, seems more in keeping with Savage Sword to me. EDIT - Another source suggests this will be a feature of both series.
