Anyone else disappointed by how little writing there is in these new Conan comics compared to the old stuff marvel did? Both narration and dialogue is minimalist at best; maybe a fourth of the amount of writing Roy Thomas did for the old Marvel series.

It's probably cos most modern artists have around 4 panels per page, they think they're storyboarding for Disney or something with panels in the widescreen aspect ratio The average comic-book back in the day consisted of at least 6 to 8 panels per page.

Problem for me is that unlike the "old days" they've started doing stories in around a 6 issue arc they stretch a story to fit. For a lot of them I reckon Stan , Roy etc. could tell them in an issue or two.

True, old comic books had smaller panels and more of them on each page. But still, what's stopping the writer here from putting more writing into these? And a lot of the writing in this new Savage Sword is inconsequential, it could not be there, and I would still get the gist of what is being said.

For me it shows the writer is not really capable of the job he is assigned for. Or he is lacking time to make a better job, will to be better or direction to take the comic to another level.

It could be any of those reasons. Whatever it is, the result is token.

I find funny that the art here looks worse than Conan the Barbarian. It used to be the other way around in the good old days.
