Fritz Leiber: Great Horror and SciFi Author (Non-Lankhmar)

In my opinion, Leiber was an excellent writer. Some of his sci-fi and horror was just as good, if not better than, his (now) more famous stories of Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser. We have a thread on Fritz's Lankhmar tales. It can be found here:

While there've been a couple of clunkers, I've really enjoyed the vast majority of the Leiber essays I've read. Fritz said for a long time that he was going to write a history of fantasy. I'm very disappointed that he didn't.
