The old Indian ritual in REH's The Thunder Rider reminded me of the similar elements in the movie A Man Called Horse with Richard Harris. Makes me wonder if the script writer had read REH's yarn and used it for inspiration.

Makes me wonder if the script writer had read REH's yarn and used it for inspiration. The book was written in 1950 and the movie came out in 1970, Thunder Rider didn't make it out until 1979. I'll have to dig out Thunder Rider this week and see how close the descriptions are. They certainly sounded brutal depending on the tribe.
