I'm pretty sure that is the cover for the paperback of King Conan Hour of the Dragon, except mostly covered in red. Hopefully not the final product. Well spotted there Mindboggled. They even used the same DH font That can't be the final cover. Can it? MINDBOGGLED : well spotted. HUN : well found. [ my search was fooled because they had rotated the art 90% ] --- [ so some dope wasted effort editing that dumb red version of crapp ]

What's happened to the US release in the spring by Perilous Worlds?

Coming Soon: TWO NEW CONAN BOOKS FROM PERILOUS WORLDSperilousworlds.com/conan-books/CONAN AND THE EMERALD LOTUS By John C. Hocking
Lured into the addictive thrall of the Emerald Lotus, the lovely sorceress Zalandra turns to Conan for aid. They must contend with bandits, undead revenants, monsters, and the desert deeps to defeat the lotus’s Stygian master in his lair, never guessing the Emerald Lotus itself may be the greater threat. CONAN AND THE LIVING PLAGUE By John C. Hocking
Sent to recover treasure from a plague-wracked city, not only must Conan avoid its deranged survivors, but battle a deadly disease given humanoid shape. To save himself – and perhaps the world — he allies with a scheming sorcerer to traverse a demon-haunted abyss in a desperate bid to destroy the Living Plague.

This is really disappointing news...... I'm sorta new to reading/book collecting, are actual printed books becoming a thing of the past?, I wonder if they are just going to release a digital version?

Disappointing.
I guess I'll just have to read the new pastiche in the new Marvel comics.
I won't hold my breath waiting for Perilous Worlds to publish these books.

This might actually be a good thing, guys. I'm stoked to read the new novels, but the mock up covers, etc.. looked a bit amateurish. Conan deserves better than that, the final covers should have been released months ago.
I have faith that Perilous Worlds will put these out. The Hocking manuscripts are obviously finished, from the press release this looks to be them getting their production straightened out.

I received five advance copies of Conan and the Living Plague. I sent one to my friend, modern pulpster and REH fan, James Reasoner. After he read it he told me that he’d written a review and would post it on his blog when the book came out in September. But the book isn’t going to appear in September. It’s unclear when it will be published. So James posted his review today… jamesreasoner.blogspot.com/2019/08/conan-and-living-plague-john-c-hocking.html

I hope it won't be too long before the rest of us can read it!

I remember reading the excerpts you posted at the old REH site, and they were so good and I felt so bad that you believed that it would never see the light of day as a published book. Well, never say never. I just hope this delay is simply a technical issue as it seems to be described by the Perilous Worlds release. And if James Reasoner likes it, I know I will too; James and I seem to have similar tastes when it comes to pulp adventure fiction! As an aside, has Perilous Worlds indicated they would like further novels from you in the future?

Disappointing, but necessary. Beyond the physical concerns of cover, well-designed interior, any maps that might be commissioned, printing and binding, and distribution, a book needs 6-9 months *minimum* to make the rounds of the trades, gather reviews and quotes, and build buzz. It will be a better book for it. The presentation and reception will go a long way in cementing the publishing program at Perilous Worlds as a legitimate venture and not just some fly-by-night cash grab.
