Sounds like a good call to have dropped that publisher. Can’t skimp on the covers.
Great covers, brand recognition and quality product and good reliable testimonials or reviews are increasingly important in todays crowded market. It may seem superficial, but in a busy digital marketplace there is from one to three seconds on a scrolling feed to attract a potential reader to click on a thumbnail and check out the book. The thumbnail of the book cover and title on a mobile device has to be clear and contrasting and iconic enough to tell the viewer roughly what they are getting, that it’s the genre and story type they are looking for. Once they click there’s roughly up to a minute more while they check the tagline and blurb.
The cover thumbnail is also important for any digital marketing ads that include it. Even better are branded covers and ads so customers can easily tell which series or product line a book is part of right from the thumbnail.

This is going to happen, have faith. The patience part is a little more difficult for me! But, I got’s me a spanking new copy of Twilight of the Gods to keep me occupied, and I can always re-read some Howard originals or some other pastiche for now.

Is this even going to happen? Or was it tied to the not pursued TV show?

There was no connection between this book and TV show that I know of. I think the goal in publishing was that Hocking wrote an awesome Conan Pastiche (Emerald Lotus), then wrote a sequel, then weird publishing business happened that killed the Conan line at the time, and Living Plague sat on the shelf.
Then recently, the Conan owners started moving to publish some new Conan pastiche, and someone (smartly in my opinion) dusted this off and decided to get it out in the world.
So it'll happen but given the whole world is frozen right now, I'd guess publishing is behind the rest of the world as far as timelines, so... pure speculation here... but probably wont' see it until 2021?
Mick.
PS - Absolutely no insider knowledge here, either of publishing in general (aside from watching industry as enthusiastic supporter) or Conan specifically (aside from being on this board for years).

It was seemingly already significantly delayed before COVID hit, would be great to have an update its current status.

While we're beating the bushes about this... I'd also liek to find the prose stories from the 2019 comics (Hocking's specifically, as it's a bridge between Emerald Lotus and Living Plague) but the other authors as well! I'd still be in for purchasing that collection.

You can find all 12 parts of the yarn and all the other stories from the Marvel comics at this site: readcomiconline.to/Comic/Conan-the-Barbarian-2019/Issue-1?id=147440#34
