I read somewhere that Conan was canned due to the Amazon regime change. The newly empowered don't want the old crew to have a success, and all that. Well, there was some of that (that's what happened to poor John Carter over at Disney), but more it didn't fit in with how they (she) wants Amazon shows to look: Lord of the Rings with a female main character, Wheel of Time with lots of female lead characters, that kind of thing. AppleTV is following their lead with the female main character in Foundation which was a male in the book. If the stories are good, it'll work. If not, it's not going to matter if it's a boy or a girl in the lead.

You've got to have a person of color in one fourth of your paintings, please. I mean, if you're just trying to be creative--trying something new--then, that's one thing. The changes they made in the re-made Battlestar Galactica served the show well. The biggest change was making Starbuck a female, and they picked the right actor. The female Starbuck is one of my favorite characters. But, this agenda crap just irks me to no end.

Why should we expect a movie/show (much less a competent one) about Conan when we're living at the very height (or depth) of the civilized debauchery Howard so powerfully depicted and lampooned in his Conan yarns?
Conan is so antithetical to what pop culture and the entertainment industry is looking to promote that any scintilla of an accurate portrayal sends them into apoplectic fits of fear, rage, and loathing. The irony, of course, is that a full-blooded Howardian Conan would likely make a boatload of cash for any studio willing to take the heat without flinching.

A new Conan television production needs someone with serious clout behind it like we had with Sam Raimi and the 'Spartacus' television series. That was even more extreme than i imagine even a Conan production would be envisaged (particularly the bad language that i thought was outrageous to the point of absurdity.) If a streaming service can find an audience for such an first-class product, then they know that a modestly budgeted Conan series should do superb business.

Yes and Steven DeKnight who created the show is a Howard fan , no idea if Cabinet have ever approached him but it would be a start.

He did Daredevil too, so he knows someone at Marvel (though it may be the folks on the outs but still...)

I'm sure the Pacific Rim sequel he directed bombing won't help matters.
