People are actually surprised by how 'little' content was published about The Witcher (5 slim paperback novels i believe) so something tells me that once Netflix is done with The Witcher tv adaptation, that a similar rugged violent fantasy hero might be an option, because Amazon are not going to compete with themselves due to The Lord Of The Rings tv series...

Thanks for the video. Regarding the Cabinet guy, he is going down the same path others who speak for the Cabinet have gone before. He said -- and I quote -- that the reason Conan was cancelled on Amazon was that "Amazon didn't want to be in competition with itself" because of their LotR TV show (meaning: Amazon supposedly didn't want another fantasy TV show). But since in reality Amazon is producing not just the LotR TV show, but also The Wheel of Time -- another fantasy series -- then what the Cabinet guy is saying simply cannot be true.
Indeed. However, it could be that was the "official" explanation given to them. According to Midnight's Edge, who do have some industry connections, the allegedly real reason was that incoming head honcho Jennifer Salke killed it for reasons relating to her personal political convictions. (Read as: Toxic masculinity)

If you check the Conan Amazon TV series thread on this forum you can see I said that long before Midnight's Edge.
On August 2, 2018 I wrote: "We'll see... I mean, there was no official news regarding Conan TV show since February. Now, just several days after Conan TV show was announced, Roy Price was fired, and Jennifer Salke was hired. Salke was also hired in order to "change the corporate culture at Amazon after Price". I would not be surprised if all this lead to throwing all plans regarding Conan out of the window, because of "toxic masculinity which is innate to that character". Ryan Condal's series Colony was cancelled recently, so he is not really "hot stuff", he is not someone who can be seen as ingredient necessary for a successful TV show. All this, plus Condal changing his Twitter description, removing "Conan the Cimmerian" from it, creates a not very pleasant picture for those who look forward to Conan TV show. Also, let's not forget there is Fredrik Malmberg's history we were discussing here recently -- and he is known for not completing the things he starts, etc. ...I wish I was wrong about all this, of course."
The Midnight's Edge's video you linked is from March 2019.

I was just looking around online to find any new trailers that have been released at SDCC and I found a vid from a guy maned Eric Voss. I have watched his vid's before about upcoming superhero movie and stuff like that. In this video he was talking about Marvel and the upcoming Disney + service and what kind of series they have in the works. Eric said one of the series Disney + will do is a "Marvel What If" series based of the Marvel "What If" comics. Now, I don't know what kind of "inside scoop" Eric Voss has if any, and this could just be nothing. When he (Voss) announced this, a couple of Marvel "What If" comic issues flashed on the screen and one of them was the "What If' comic with Thor and Conan. Now this could mean absolutely nothing, but I just thought I would mention it. He probably just randomly picked some issues and used them for his video.

Part of me wondered if the Red Sonja film might get a fire lit for something Conan, but shoot, the more I think about it, there's no way a true adaptation of Howard's Conan will be made in our day.
007 is a woman. Thor is a woman. Every old IP is getting gender/race swapped. As much as a real Howardian Conan would be a nice punch in the mouth to the current trajectory of culture and film (and also a real antidote), I can't see anything being done without some sort of anti-Howardian compromise.

It's an animated series based on the comics but will be alternative versions of the MCU films , and possibly I suppose TV shows , supposedly a lot of the original actors are due to do the voice work.

I believe that the "toxic masculinity" reputation of the titular character may have been the main reason because of which Amazon cancelled the Ryan Condal's proposed Conan TV-series now. But the reason why generally Conan doesn't really fit the TV profile is something else. Just read how Netflix is advertising their The Witcher TV-series: "THE WITCHER is an epic tale of fate and family. Be among the first to get the exclusive scoop on the highly anticipated new Netflix original series centering around famed monster hunter, Geralt of Rivia. Be introduced to the world of The Continent, where humans, elves, witchers, gnomes, and monsters battle to survive and thrive, and where good and evil is not easily identified." Can anyone imagine Conan being advertised in the same fashion? "Conan the Barbarian, an epic tale of fate and family..." Family being the key ingredient here. As the old media wisdom goes, when we go to cinema, we are guests there and we need to behave, but when we watch TV, TV is a guest in our home and as a true guest it needs to show respect towards each member of an avarage family. In short, TV is a family media. "Game of Thrones" is filled with sex, violence, perversions, what not; yet it remains a family show--a family show for today's times, times of new-age permissive society. On the other hand, cinema is about an event. You don't go to cinema to see a reflection, a representation of yourself and your family, instead, you go there to be a witness to a spectacular event (a large event that only big screen is fit to portray). Conan and his adventures fit there, and not in the family section...
Whatever Conan's shortcomings may be from the perspective of the dominant ideology, all that becomes irrelevant in view of the event that a film made to be shown in cinemas is. Just notice how Tarantino gets away with many things that are contrary to the present ideological climate. Because, his films are true films, true events. ...Someone needs to make another spectacular, ambitious Conan film, the way Milius' Conan film was spectacular and ambitious. They should forget the light approach (the 2011 Conan movie approach) and also attempts to go to TV with this.

Unless Terminator: Dark Fate does WAY better than the last couple of T films (low bar, I know), I don't see the studios taking a chance on an Arnold-centric picture any more. You'd think Morgan would have some pull with the way the F&F films bring in the dough, but if it hasn't happened yet, hard to see it happening now. That being said, there's a lot more options than there were just 5 years ago. Conan has to be able to fit SOMEWHERE.

Disney and a few of the top networks recently rejected a pitch from Sylvester Stallone featuring a team up with him and Dolph Lundgren for being too masculine and not female-centric enough. Disney apparently didn't even read the pitch.
Might be time to start approaching studios outside of Hollywood and the big networks?

Fredrik Malmberg should just start his own network. Hell, Robert Rodriguez did! However, that might be asking way to much of Malmberg. He could take it to Rodriguez, he is a big fan of Frazetta and Conan.

Let the Russians or Turks make a Conan movie.

Exacly the reason why I dont want to see Disney even 1000 miles near Conan. They ruined it in animated show, and that was still masculine atempt on character. Imagine nowaday... Conan the Cry Baby... In touch with his inner femine side... Gives me creep 😳 Conan should go away from Hollyweird, as much as I hate to admit it. SJW sect ruined everything. What we need is creative studio with balls! And that's a fact.

Nah. There is no money for real films outside Hollywood. All the best to Kit Mallet, but his Iron Shadows is not how a Conan movie should look like in terms of production. The same goes for Russian flicks like Volkodav. What Conan needs is another John Milius, someone who can make this film in Hollywood, but who is willing to impose his vision on the studio, and who is even willing to cheat a bit in order to see his or her vision come to fruition.
