You know who I think is amazing? Greg Ruth. His work on the Born on the Battlefield collection is just incredible. He did an amazing job showing us a young Conan. I like what he said about how he wanted to make each frame look dirty.
I don't think he's done any other Conan.
I'd love to see him come back and do something major for the mighty barbarian.

Agreed, this is one-time where I never minded getting a "fill-in" issue. Born on the Battlefield was just as good as the main storyline. Busiek' s scripts were as good as usual but Ruth's style was perfect for the harsh land of Cimmeria. I think the Conan 2012 film heavily relied on his style and visuals for the opening scenes. |

I was completely blown away by Born On The Battlefield, which is arguably one of Dark Horse's finest Conan graphic novels, an absolute work of art on all fronts. I felt like i had just read the equivalent of 'Conan Via Ridley Scott', an amazing piece of visual storytelling. The 2011 film did well to lean on the book. |
