Sonny mother trucking Lyndham
He had the look, the body, the laugh that bespoke “gigantic melancholies and gigantic mirth.”
Look at him in Predator, he literally looks like most Conan illustrations sprang forth from the page, fully formed.
I always thought Conan had a very Native American/Anglo look as it was.
Who is even close to this today? Serious question as Sonny has unfortunately passed and would like to know if anyone else has that same look and charismatic stoneliness.

Yes, many Conan fans said that after Predator.

I had never considered it, but without a doubt. Nice call. Grow out the hair and spend six months in the gym lifting heavy then a quick cut for the shoot, hell yeah.

That Landham guy looks even more Conan than the dude playing Reacher in the new series. Too bad that was from 1987, Predator that is, he passed away few years ago. Definitely had the 'Black Celtic' look. With some work probably could have nailed the Conan role.

This is something I have said for years! I think Landham would have been a fine Conan.

Palance would have made a tremendous Conan.
Imagine Palance delivering lines like:
"Did you deem yourself strong, because you were able to twist the heads off civilized folk, poor weaklings with muscles like rotten string? Hell! Break the neck of a wild Cimmerian bull before you call yourself strong. I did that, before I was a full-grown man—like this!'

Never considered Jack Palance as being right for the role of Conan, but Palance would have been perfect as Olgerd Vladislav, predecessor as chief of the Zuagirs before Conan took command.

Yes, Jack is not a good choice for Conan because he had an evil look and he was not handsome but he was outstanding for villain roles.
William Smith and Ray Harryhausen- perfect team for great Conan movie. It's a pity that something like that didn't happen.

These days things are so dumb that if they made a Conan series and had Palance ( pretending he was younger, and more importantly, alive ) as Olgerd they would probably end up doing some flop of a spin off series focusing on Vladislav's life before he ended up becoming a Zuagir war chief and meeting up with Conan in 'A Witch Shall Be Born'.

Though REH described Conan as "scarred and sinister." Wasn't Frazetta's barbarian based a little on Palance or am I mis-remembering?
