I would rather have had a proper conclusion to the 80s cartoon than this. I also wonder if we will ever get a Drizzt movie or trilogy of movies. I actually think a Dark Elf Trilogy would be really cool to see, something completely different in terms of visuals. The books haven't been that good for awhile, followed Drizzt through out all the years, but ditched it a year or so back, Salvatore has just become too cuck woke shit of late, imagine transferring that vision on screen, but just worse. You know it wouldn't be cool.

The only way I would see it if it were based on Tomb of Horrors or Isle of Dread and directed by Sam Raimi. With at least one kill by a Gelatinous Cube. They could make the whole party girls if they want, as long as they die like typical 1st level PCs, then get replaced immediately by new characterswith little explanation.

I mean, it's not like guys are half the potential audience, or anything . . .

The directors said they were doing it more for characterization and comedic reasons than for the woke factor, if their word can be trusted and they are not being disingenuous. Plus it looks like they are going for some tonal shifts that will probably be very difficult to pull off: www.cbr.com/dungeons-and-dragons-honor-among-thieves-monty-python-inspiration/This looks like the latest trailer:

Does look like it could be amusingly watchable though, as you've both observed, it does seem to lean close to the Marvel formula of being cgi heavy, and humour heavy with a nostalgic contemporary soundtrack. Thor Ragnarok with a D+D spin perhaps?Confirmed:

Eh, add it to the steamy pile then.

Eh, add it to the steamy pile then. I should have done the same, maybe after the Neverwinter Saga, but I cut my losses after Relentless. Drizzt had become an increasingly confused son of a bitch, I got sick of his bullshit introspection and doubts, and the subsequent 'spiritual journey' with Master Kane on what he should believe in or not believe in, liked it better when he just worshipped Mielikki and was the Hunter and ranger of the north. Drizzt didn't even appear much in the last book of that trilogy. The other thing was the tedious and overdone dark elf house politics where so much of the story telling is centered around old women drow bitching and constantly plotting and back talking about other old women rivals, schemes that most times get nowhere, but we have to suffer the knitting club page after page. Add new characters retconned into disjointed story lines. To hell with this series.

“We liked that Holga is the bruiser that does the dirty work for Edgin, and he doesn’t like to get his hands dirty. We also love emasculating leading men. ” Says it all doesn't it.

Wow, put that right on the poster and in the ads. And when this tanks at the box office they’ll be thoroughly confused as to why.

Initial reports from Shad Brooks review seem to indicate that this movie is actually quite good. Apparently a fun, rollercoaster ride with some great humour and a very non 'woke' theme. Not perfect, defo silly bits in there but some good well executed set ups and pay offs. The writer's seem to know their stuff when it comes to playing D+D. Forgotten Realms based.

Watched this last night, good fun. Definitely gotta Marvel feel to the movie with a couple of fight scenes directly inspired by the Avengers movies.

Wow, put that right on the poster and in the ads. And when this tanks at the box office they’ll be thoroughly confused as to why. It's beginning to look like a 'House of the Dragon' situation where they were saying all the wrong things during the marketing campaign but the show itself turned out to be quite good. Some usually quite critical youtube reviewers have been giving it the thumbs up but I've not seen any in depth analyses. Perhaps they're trying to confuse us with new tactics - the reverse bait and switch?

The more trustworthy reviews I hear the more inclined I am to give it a shot, likely when the DVD comes out. How full was the cinema during your viewing?
