I'm not one for hoping Arnie comes back to Conan but if fans can put something like this together perhaps Fredrik and his gaming crew could actually put a film , even a short together , to show film/TV makers what could be done with Conan.

Actually a game might not be a bad idea. Those things are like movies today anyway.

I suppose with high end equipment, swap face expertise, some type of powerful graphic cards/cloud computing power, reduce flicker or visual defects to the barest minimum they can always create some type of 'deepfake' production with Arnie. I think Arnie aging might not be enough to protect from a new Arnie Conan production

Something like that kemp... The only part of Dark Fate that I liked was the moment of John's killing (I still think it was a stupid decision), and I liked it only because we got to see the actors of the story in their younger days again, including Arnie. And it was excellently done. The reface is progressing and will/would definitely be used in the case of King Conan movie.

Used to a minimum it has its place, seen how they used the tech to make Arnie look younger in the Terminator instalment, and whatever else, that King Conan concept trailer was nicely done in an amusing way, but the way I see it the threat always remains that we might be on the precipice of a new era in movie making where they just make countless reboots and sequels ( much of it disposable garbage ) using AI deepfakes of Schwarzenegger, Ford and other aged actors to bring back popular characters for a quick buck. Unfortunately, much of the fan base will still go and watch them even if they feel that there is something eerily unnatural or off about it. All the actors have to do ( or their surviving family ), is sign the rights, get a truck load of money, and make a PR statement that the next movie 'is the best one to date' or 'true to the concept' even if they don't see it. I think the line between live action movies and video games might become blurred. I am just speculating of course.

I'll be honest, I see AI as one big evil. It doesn't matter what field it was - be it art, writing or film magic - the soul is simply missing. And that story with the actors who "bequeath" their faces so that you could film with them even after them... It's creepy in a way. Doing a scene or two today where old legends are given a final push with the characters that made them famous is one thing. But to leave everything over time to the computer-generated world... The thought leaves a bitter taste.

The thought leaves a bitter taste. It's interesting that you say that, as it reminds me of something someone from my work said the other week when a few of us brought up the subject of AI, a co-worker thought that AI art was soulless. I never looked into so called AI generated art, but out of curiosity I might just do so now. Beyond the current hype I still think of AI as a tool, but like any technology I'm sure it will be used and misused inappropriately. On the subject of Arnie as Conan, I will admit that Arnie's Conan made a big impact on bringing Conan into modern popular pop culture, same as Frank Frazetta art and SSOC mags. That was the introduction to the world of Conan for so many fans. Having said that I would still like to see someone else in the role, but the consensus might be just to tell me to shut it, have same Coca Cola and pop corn and enjoy a computer generated Arnie Conan

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks so, kemp. No matter how good something turns out to be via AI, it still screams artificial and soulless. Humans are somehow alien to the eye, and I still don't understand what problem AI has with the inability to represent normal human hands - it persistently makes nephilim fingers. Bizarre... Not to mention what a slap in the face it is to true artists and writers who put time and sweat and heart into their works. They literally piss on them with the AI.
It has its application in minimal doses when it comes to film, I agree. But that's it. I'll be honest, I crave for some new content when it comes to Conan. I wouldn't mind seeing Arnold's finale either, if it puts an end to the story and reignites the market for the character. Truth be told, of all three Conan fan bases, Arnie's is ironically the largest. Then come comic fans, and only then fans of the original. Sad to some extent. Yet that's the way it is. Maybe a solid King Conan movie would generate enough competitive spirit in certain studios to finally dare and then finaly bring an original based tv series/movie franchise. With a new actor and a valid story. In this era, people like to compare. Just look at the Marvel and DC universe(s). What better reason than that? There potentially lies a big media demand.

With most Conan fans when I try talk to about REH they look at me like I am crazy — or have absolutely no idea who he is. I try to get them to check him out and it just falls on deaf ears, such a sad state of affairs. To them, Ahnold is Conan!

I know, I get it, what Malmberg says is a whole 'nother issue. However, he has stated that a Conan game, where you control Conan, is indeed in the works, as well as others.
I am reading more and more that interactive movies and well-written video games are a large part of the future of cinema/movies. Playing The Last of Us years and years ago certainly did have a cinematic feel to it!

It is most definitely bizarre and disturbing Blackheart, for instance the recent writers strike, the threat of AI replacing jobs. Hate to be the cynic, or maybe I don't, but I'm thinking if Momo's Conan from 2011 failed to give Conan new life on the screen, I'm kinda skeptical that the return of an aged Arnie as Conan would ignite interest in the character to the point where the studios would seriously take a chance with something more Howardian, especially if the movie flopped, which it probably would. Hate to think that the most I would get out of it is just to have a few of my friends around, pizza and some drinks and watch it for laughs, sniggering 'how bad this is' every few moments.

Exacly what Im saying. Whenever you mention Conan, everyone follows up with a story about how powerful Arnie was in the role. For the vast majority, Conan begins and ends with Arnold. I remember a slogan on a site, when Momoa was cast as Conan, which read: There is only one Conan - Mr Pumping Iron! You can clearly see that none of them have heard of REH.

That movie was doomed from the start, and that much was clear. As soon as they announced a REMAKE, instead of "based on the original stories", you could see where it was going. Plus, I say it again, people mostly want to see the Arnold final, then as now. Part of the flop at the box office was due to the boycott of the film, I know many who said "why should I pay a ticket for garbage when there are pirate sites"... Unfortunately, the studio also had bad marketing in 2011. And even if they invested more, they had a bad story with their hands. No matter how far CtB 1982 was from Howard, it was still a deep and powerful saga that people could sympathize with and identify with in a sense, and which no small/big screen medium has ever been able to surpass. I know that daring films have not been made in Hollywood for a long time, but the studios were persistently trying to adapt Howard's work, running away from everything that makes his characters great. In a word, they are all collectively cowardly fools.
