Even after my death I continued to love my football. Many times I sat in those stands
in the flesh and now I sit there and the cold doesn't even bother me. I walk right up to
the cheer squad and peek down their shirts. They never even know I'm there. Of course I
can't eat a hotdog but I can smell them.
I still pull for my favorite teams. It does me good when they win, when they lose I just
try to forget about it. I saw an old girlfriend at a game recently...damn does she ever
look old. I'm glad I'm dead, aging sucked. I don't understand why I cant see other dead
people, or can I? How do you know someone you see is actually dead? You can't go up and
ask them cause they can't hear you. And if you try to touch someone your hand passes right
through. It passes through everything so how can you tell?
I bring all this up because at a game recently I saw this super hot young babe. I was
staring of course and then she turned and looked right in my eyes and waved at me! I was
like wtf? I looked around to see who was behind me but there was no one. She waved again
so I went over and spoke to her. And she heard me!
"I can't believe there is another ghost here," she declared. "I see so few of us around,
most spirits go on to heaven or hell...not many get left behind."
"How did you know I was dead?"
"Oh its easy, dead people have this weird green glow coming off their hair."
"You don't," I offered.
"I dye my hair...you didn't really think I was a natural blond did you?"
"I can't believe I am talking to someone...and are you really eating that hotdog, it looks
incredibly delicious."
"I'm afraid its only a make believe hotdog...I'm proud of how real I can make my creations
look, to another dead person I mean."
I was fascinated and couldn't stop asking stupid questions until long after the game
ended and we were all alone save for a few maintenance works wandering about. "I'm not
even sure how I died. I was pretty young to die."
"Well you look great now, most dead people do. I want to show you something," she said.
Then she pulled me close and gave me a big hot wet kiss. My eyes must have popped out
of my head. "Wow," I exclaimed. "That seemed so real."
"It was real, as real as you want it to be."
I have always been a bit shy but despite misgivings I had to ask. "Do you know how to
have sex?"
She came close again and flashed a wonderful smile. Then her slender hand moved down
below my belt for a moment. "Can you feel that?"
I moaned happily. "Yes, yes I can...its such a awesome experience I'm having right now."
She released me..."shall we walk?"
"Great by me, but you aren't to tired are you...I mean the game was pretty long and
I don't want to impose on your time being a stranger and all."
"Ghosts never get tired, bored yes, tired no."
We walked hand in hand for what seemed like hours. Actually I think it was hours. I had
so much to talk about and Kelly, that was her name, appeared to enjoy my company. I
assumed she was lonely like me. "Do you meet a lot of other dead people," I asked.
"Oh no, there are only two others that I know off and each of them have only met one or
two ghosts...and this is a large city."
We watched the people filing past, I thought I noted a hint of sadness in her tone when
she answered my last question. I took her hand and massaged it softly. She put her head
on my shoulder and began to sob. "I've been dead so long, but I had terribly happy to meet
you my new friend," she said. "Brad, you won't wander off will you?"
"I have no place to go."
"Other ghosts simply seem to drift away after a few months or years. I see them less and
less and then the vanish completely."
"That's so weird," I mumbled half to myself. Of course everything about this would
probably seem weird to any living person. I felt a chill pass down my spine, or at least
I thought I felt a chill run down my spine.
"You mentioned other ghosts?"
"Oh, I should take you to meet them, come on!" She took my hand and we started off
at a brisk pace. I expected my breath to become labored but it never did...I was dead.
We arrived at a little isolated park, half hidden behind an apartment complex. There
was a little girl swinging there with her pet cat sleeping nearby. "This is Edna,
Edna, this is Mr Edwards." The girl stared at me quizzically and nodded. She didn't
speak. "Hello Mr Edwards, my name is Fluffy." It was the cat. "The cat can talk?" I
asked stupidly. "Of course he can, he is a ghost cat...very intelligent" Kelly smiled
as if anyone would know there. I wasn't sure if I should shake the cat's hand or what,
its voice was quite masculine sounding. "Proud to meet you dude," I said lamely.
Fluffy closed his eyes and seemed to go back to sleep.
Kelly and I sat on a nearby bench and watched Edna swing. There were other kids running
here and there but they paid us no attention. One even walked right through Fluffy but
he only looked up and yawned. It occurred to me that, while it seemed I had been dead
forever, I truly couldn't recall how long I had been dead...it might have only been a
couple of days or several hours for all I could figure after considering the subject.
"Poor kid, she has no one."
"That's not totally true Brad. She has her cat and they love each other very much. Maybe
love is the only thing that matters, even if you are dead. They are perfectly contented
as far as I can tell."
"I don't know, I can sense sadness underneath her unconcerned aspect. I bet she really
misses her parents."
"Oh she sees them all the time, of course they are very old now and it does worry me
what will happen to Edna when they finally pass on forever. Even though they can't see
her, I think it comforts her to see them. She goes home every night, even sleeps in her
old bedroom. She says its mostly the same as when she was alive...only a lot dustier."
"Well, the four of us can form on our little club of spooks. Surely we can think of
something interesting to do. Why don't we start by having sex...somewhere Edna can't
see us of course."
"You're might fresh," Kelly answered. "We aren't even married, or engaged for that
matter. In fact we are total strangers. What kind of work do you do, or did I should say?"
"I was a writer, I wrote shitty novels based on video games. They were terrible but
it was the only market I could find where my work made a little money. I also worked
part time at a hospital. Helping with the laundry and stuff like that."
"Being a published author can't be that bad."
"It was ok, I always thought I would write something important one day...guess I didn't
live that long." She leaned over and kissed me. Edna went home a few minutes later and
Kelly and I made love right there in the park...with kids swinging nearby and some
creepy guys doing drugs right across the street. I wanted to tell them to go away while
I had an intimate encounter. The sex was really good. I couldn't believe it. How is
this happening I gasped between kisses. "I think its probably just all in our minds hut
we have given new meaning to the term platonic relationship!"
"NO kidding," I gasped. "Are you sure all of this is just our imagination?"
"I'm guessing you have a VERY dirty mind," Kelly replied as she pulled on her pink
panties. "You have really nice boobs," I said. "Thank you, I enjoyed the way you
touched them big boy."
If you had saw me then you would know what a ghost looks like when it blushes. I
suddenly felt like a shy school boy just given a compliment by his favorite teacher.
I noticed it was dark and a soft rain was falling. I put my arm around Kelly and
lightly kissed her ear. She smelled good and felt so soft and yielding under my caresses.
You know, being a ghost isn't that bad when you have someone. "But you will soon
fade away, or I will. I wonder where they go...all these lonely ghosts. There must be
many scattered over all the nations of the earth.
I wasn't really in the mood for philosophy or deep thinking. I found my smokes and lit up.
Kelly didn't seem to mind. Her had gently stroked my knee. "
"We should take a road trip, just the four of us, you me, Edna and Fluffy."
"How, we can't drive?" I asked.
"We'll just get on a bus and ride, ride ride."
The idea appealed to me, why not...it wasn't like I had other things to do...and by all
accounts and judge by what I had seen, this city was pretty dead at the time.
I was surprised at how quickly Edna agreed to go. "Mommy and Daddy won't miss me at all."
We walked to a bus station and found one headed south. We boarded and found three seats.
Fluffy sat on Edna's lap. "I've never been anywhere," the child said. It's all so
exciting isn't it?"
"It certainly is," I agreed. Thus our trip began...and what a trip it proved to be...
and the ghosts we met!
