Exactly how is left vague, but award-winning author Chabon posted on his Instagram: "I live in my imagination, and by that means I’ve been living in Cross Plains, Texas for the past year or more. But the imagination requires nourishment, and a balanced imaginative diet ought to include some food taken raw. This is my third visit, my second since beginning work on the latest novel. #robertehoward" A deleted quote & link to the Gram post at www.facebook.com/rehcomicsgroup/posts/pfbid0Xpi17wi7QhxczsVqGw6rzwETeZQkGCkBnC7TTxygyY7mYRttHvH2MXhZL4M1wUKSl

Interesting, he's gone back two times now since he started working on the novel. I wonder if REH is a character or if Cross Plains will be a setting and the story will be about REH.

Is it about REH? Or inspired by his works? Or is Chabon doing the same as Dixon, & doing his own unlicensed pastiche? Whichever, he's clearly try to get the feel for REH's life, & even get in his head. Makes me wonder how close the novel is to being finished Chabon might be, if he's willing to mention it? All we can do is wait, sadly.
