Amazing Stories was a trash magazine from its inception. Its editor, Hugo Gernsback, was himself a horrible writer and didn't pay the other writers for the magazine unless forced to. Lovecraft, Clark Ashton Smith and others called him "Hugo the Rat": thepulparchvist.blogspot.com/2018/06/the-predator-editor.htmlThankfully, Gernsback lost control of the magazine in 1929. It finally went pulp in 1933.

"This is an over the top gonzo pastiche of Robert E. Howard's 'James Allison' stories."

It just occurred to me ; I wonder if this Lawrence Block novel was originally a Men's mag story (possibly under pseudonym?) Killing Castro

Prominent pulp scholar/art collector, Doug Ellis, has some cool news:
"The Windy City Pulp and Paper Convention has featured several fantastic estate auctions over the years. Our 2019 show will feature another, with the first part of the Robert Weinberg Estate Auction taking place on Friday evening, April 12, 2019. Parts two and three will be held at our 2020 and 2021 shows. While the auctions will primarily focus on pulps from Bob Weinberg's great collection, they will also feature rare books and ephemera. If you collect science fiction or fantasy, you won't want to miss these!"
