80.000 years? That must be a misprint. Between Thurian Age and Hyborian Age elapsed 8.000 years.

The Hyborian Age could definitely be 20,000 years ago. Hopefully Jeffrey Shanks will elaborate in his essay why they chose this date. He has written many articles on the Thurian and Hyborian Age.

REH never gave an exact date for the Hyborian Age, although I have always preferred L Sprague de Camp's 10,000 BC, just made more sense to me considering the events after the time of Conan. Of course the Thurian Age was placed somewhere around 100,000 BC.
Seems like an awful lot of millennia between the Thurian and Hyborian Age, even if we placed Conan's age around 20,000 to 30,000 BC, you can still stick a few more ages between those time frames, not even taking into account the era of Acheron.
Of course REH's Thurian Age was supposed to have lasted for tens of thousands of years.

Looking forward to this. Also, I think the 8,000 year gap between Thurian and Hyborean ages was a revision by later Conan writers.

#9 and 7 freaking covers. Just when I think they might be scaling back, they go and unleash more. I'd rather have them than not, but my wallet is hurting.

Only pick up the main cover for each issue as a reading copy and eventually pick up the graphic novels as they come out. My comic book collecting days are long gone now.

Me, too, for the most part. Conan is the only thing left I collect. I have everything else I could want and find little interest to collect more (Uncanny X-men is the only mild interest).
Case in point with there just being too many damned covers: I have the complete Conan the Barbarian 1 - 275 Marvel run and it is in 2 short boxes. We are issue number 9 and I am already close to needing a second short box! It is just too much. Granted several issues are quite thicker with the fancier covers.
As an artist, I understand the interest in having multiple covers and giving them a shot at it. I'd rather have them than not and I buy what I can afford. Heck, there are a lot of incentive covers I never even hear about.

This will be available in the UK tomorrow.
I guess it'll be the same on the other side of the pond?
