Seen all the Deadpool movies so will have to give the latest instalment a whirl. Thanks kemp. Looks like a fun movie. Even some heavy critics of Disney's MCU seem to be giving this a cautious thumbs up, though they stress that throwing just one good movie out there as bait won't save the MCU itself.

I'm more earlier decades, the Blade, Ghost Rider, first X Men and Spiderman movies, and Punisher years, before the Avengers Camp stuff took off, and there is some talk about a new Blade movie, but that's just it, all talk for now. If nothing else we can enjoy the latest Deadpool, hope it's as good as the trailer kinda makes it out to be, but I have dropped out of MCU for the most part.

Watched most of the major MCU movies up to Endgame then dropped out of the whole thing and not regretted it.
The superhero movies that most appeal to me ran from the early X-Men movies through Raimi's first two Spiderman's (three was a mess) up to the first two Iron Man movies (three was a mess). I did enjoy all the MCU movies up to Infinity War/Endgame. Didn't watch Captain Marvel (or Captain Shoehorned-in as some critics think of her, that slot should have been a Black Widow movie - think of the extra impact a certain Black Widow scene in Endgame would have had if it had come right after a Black Widow movie!).
I'm wondering if Deadpool 3 is an indication that the superhero genre has run it's course and now entering it's parody/self parody phase, as indicated by Deadpool's 4th wall breaking self deprecating humor? We've been through the Exploratory phase (Blade through to Punisher), Peak Superhero phase (Iron Man 1 through to Endgame), Tired Tropes phase (everything after Endgame), and now is beginning it's Parody/Self-parody phase? Rageaholic did a great breakdown of this on his youtube a couple of years back. He used different terms but I'm basically riffing on his observations.

They could certainly use this year to reassess things. With just D&W, they can look ahead and see what stories do they REALLY need to tell. Of the things unannounced, the only one that jumps out at me is a Thor vs. Hercules to tie up that thread. And they have to remember to make movies for everyone again. Marvels had an interesting concept and a totally uninteresting story, but it was too important to have three female leads than to, you know, give them something to do. The FF Silver Surfer thing must’ve went down badly for them to put out “Oh Norrin Radd’s in this too!” so quickly. They may still be able to right the ship but they have to remember what got them there in the first place.

I certainly hope it's in the parody/self parody phase, had my on and off switch when it came to viewing the 'peak superhero phase' including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor and Avengers, but definitely ran the other way when I saw 'Tired Tropes phase' walking my way. I don't think anyone will miss the convoluted mess that is/was the MCU with it's directionless storytelling, crappy looking cgi/green screens and Woke politicking. Let's just admit it, it's shit for the most part.

After Endgame I got the sense that there were too many forces pulling it in too many directions, with no clear view as to what it truly was or where it was going. I have no gripes with anyone who enjoyed those movies, but I ended up skipping even Raimi's entry when I learned how little creative control he actually had (somewhat similar to what happened to Neil Marshall with Hellboy).

There are glimmerings of self-awareness in the new Deadpool movie and the change you mentioned, but they still seem to be more interested in politiking than making good movies.
Didn't know about Thor vs Hercules. Will have to look that one up. Still remember in my minds eye a classic Jack Kirby one page illo of them clashing.

it was the post credit for Love and Thunder (I made it thru :-) ) Thanks johnnypt. Just checked out a clip of that post credit scene on youtube.
I recall reading that Chris Hemsworth said he was tired of parodying himself so this one may likely have a more serious tone.

If they want him back it’ll be on his terms, which is probably for the better.
