For a different angle on He-Man, check out the Netflix series (just aired end of 2017) called The Toys that Made Us. I haven't watched the He-Man episode yet, but the Star Wars and Barbie back-stories were fascinating, to say the least. Ninja'd!
Ha-ha! Yeah man, it's a cool show. Wish they'd do the other four episodes they promised (Season one was to have 8-eps, not 4).

Anyway, apparently in the mini-comics packaged with the figures He-Man was more of a wandering barbarian guy. sounds pretty cool.
Didn't Remco or somebody make a Conan figure? along with Warlord?

Unsure. I found it interesting they touched on the Battlestar Gallactica missile-firing toys (which were recalled) in the SW episode. I had the Pit Viper and the Cylon Raider - never returned them. Boba was going to have a firing missile, but after the BG missile crisis this was canceled. A BG episode would be neat. Back to the He-Man topic, I need to finish that series (I still have He-Man and GI Joe remaining). Hopefully others will check out the show. It's great. Lucas got epically screwed on his initial toy deal.

I remember as a kid getting the action figures and being entertained by the comics included. Yeah, they were definitely a tad edgier than the cartoon, which immediately disappointed me with the stupid Prince Adam secret identity and all the preachiness. I found out years later that at least a few of the comics were illustrated by a young Bruce Timm. Apparently he's kind of embarrassed by them now

The He Man episode of The Toys That Made Us on Netflix is very interesting. I was too old for the line when it came out. Lookingback on it they were doing some really cool, gonzo stuff that tapped heavily into pulp and weird fiction tropes. The Filmation cartoon was pretty watered down but I have an affection for it, Finished up The Toys that Made Us last night. Really cool. The He-Man was indeed interesting, with more than one reference to Conan, including a quick-reference to Frank Frazetta -whose art they relied on in the early stages of developing He-Man. I have to say, that is one zany show, very off the cuff feeling, and relaxed. Wish they'd do more episodes. Off topic - but the GI Joe episode was cool, too. Shame about the deal the guy took who came up with the idea. Yikes. Chris.

Kevin Smith, Netflix and Mattel are teaming up for a new "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe" series. I’m Eternia-ly grateful to Mattel TV and Netflix for entrusting me with not only the secrets of Grayskull, but also their entire Universe. In Revelation, we pick up right where the classic era left off to tell an epic tale of what may be the final battle between He-Man and Skeletor! Brought to life with the most metal character designs Powerhouse Animation can contain in the frame, this is the Masters of the Universe story you always wanted to see as a kid!

At first I thought 'cool', and than I saw the anime on the top line. Now all I can see is the big mouths and eyes, the posturing, imagining one long shit fest. Hope I am wrong.

No idea where to stick this one, but figured this thread would be close enough since a good portion of it covers the Masters of the Universe franchise.
The 80's was the right time for sword and sorcery themed toys. Remember when the Masters of the Universe action figures came with a booklet, seemed darker and grittier at the beginning, but the filmation series kinda ruined that initial impression.
