Saw Napoleon tonight and liked it. Supposedly Scott has a 4 hour and ten minute Director's Cut he's going to release on AppleTV+. I can see that, the film felt complete but it was obvious more was going on with his mom and wife.
Some epic battle scenes, though. And for those who are fans of the Cossacks, you should enjoy seeing them fight.

As mentioned elsewhere, here’s my latest endeavor that seems to have caught onto the algorithm. An animation focused video series starting out with the current offerings of Looney Tunes on home video, focusing on one disc at a time.

Rebel Moon is being attacked by the critics, as I expected it would be. Has any filmmaker this century provoked such polarizing reactions as Zack Snyder? Those who do like the moviehave been mentioning the Frank Frazetta influence on the visuals. I'm looking forward to Thursday.

Godzilla Minus One is pretty much a masterpiece.

An interesting lawsuit here: www.hollywoodreporter.com/business/business-news/gamemaker-accuses-netflix-stealing-ideas-rebel-moon-franchise-1235603686/A tabletop gaming company claims Netflix lifted their worldbuilding ideas and then Netflix cancelled the Rebel Moon game they were contracted to make due to them "violating the agreement."

I've been struck by how lousy a lot of big-budget movies, especially MCU movies, look these days. I saw a comparison between the superhero-flying-in-space shots from Man of Steel -- released a decade ago -- and those from The Marvels and was shocked by how terrible the latter looked on a $274 million budget. Where is all this money going? With films like Villeneuve's Dune, or Godzilla Minus One, or The Creator, or even Rebel Moon, are movies that look as a good as or better than movies with much larger budgets. It's a trend that I hope continues. Maybe if we're lucky, Hollywood might eventually realize they could be using their resources better. Maybe.

I saw Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. I enjoyed it well enough. It was nothing special, but a decent action adventure superhero movie. The showing I went to was mostly empty;, seems like it got killed by the critics.

Somehow appropriate that Rebel Moon releases just as the DCEU is unceremoniously hustled out the back door and shivved in a dark alley.
Rebel Moon is good. Despite a few scenes being abrupt and some characters not having a lot to do because of the cuts, it wasn't as ragged as the theatrical version of BvS, say. It's a blend of Kurosawa (obviously), Heavy Metal magazine, Warhammer 40K and the Arthurian legend, plus a heavy dose of fantasy esthetics. The character of Tarak not only looks like Conan, he's introduced while working at a forge. Howardian vibes in the central conflict, with the military of the expansionist Motherworld offering the villagers on Veldt the benefits of civilization whether they want it or not. I'm excited for the director's cut and the second half next year. The critics are on crack. To put things in perspective, the MCU's biggest flop (so far) got a rating three times as high as Rebel Moon.

Your showing may have been empty, but the film has grossed 120 million internationally and it's only been out for two days. I had high hopes it would be a total bomb at the box office.

I'm glad it's doing better than I had thought. I want superhero movies to continue to be made. If they start bombing, Hollywood will look at the genre as a whole, not the quality of individual movies, and decide to cut back or ditch the genre. Aquaman 2 had a budget of $205 million, plus marketing. If it ends up not making money, it will be the second superhero movie in a row to bomb.
I believe they need to cut back somewhat. Perhaps Disney should give the MCU a year break from cinema while evaluating the story teams for the future of the franchise and find a way to get the budgets reduced.
DC has already decided to change the direction of the DC extended universe, so we'll see how well that works out.
On another note, as a Pro Wrestling fan, I saw the iron claw today. I thought it was a well-done movie. I'm not sure of some of the specifics of the Von Erich legacy, but from what I know of WCCW, they seem to have gotten the high notes correct and made a dramaticly touching movie.

I am going to check out Iron Claw soon, not a fan of Pro Wrestling at all, but the film looks good. I agree with you that Hollywood might take the wrong lesson from the waning interest in superhero movies and just drop them all together, avoiding them like the plague for a while. I believe(perhaps I am overestimating their intellect) that they are going to realize that people are fatigued by big dumb movies with overinflated budgets and bad story telling, I could be wrong of course. Personally I'm not into superheroes much.

I'll watch Part 2 in April. The android is the character I'm interested in seeing more of. Seems like he'll have a big part in Part 2.

Old friend of mine that was slightly older than me had an old VHS copy of an animated movie called WIZARDS on his shelf next to Fire and Ice, Heavy Metal and some other anime stuff back in the day. Was always curious about it and ended up getting it for Christmas on DVD. Now I had a few beers in me at the time and was uh, distracted' by the gf, but what the hell was that? I couldn't get through it. Not at all what I was expecting. I want to try it again in a more clear light, but damn, that was weird. Propaganda like?
