Here is REH's listing of SK stories, drawn up in May of 1931, courtesy of Patrice Louinet:
.10. Red Shadows Solomon Kane the Englishman medieval France and Africa .11. Skulls in the Stars Solomon Kane the Englishman medieval England .12. Rattle of the Bones Solomon Kane the Englishman medieval Germany .15. The Hills of the Dead Solomon Kane the Englishman medieval Africa .16. The Moon of Skulls Solomon Kane the Englishman medieval Africa .18. Wings in the Night Solomon Kane the Englishman medieval Africa .19. The Footfalls Within Solomon Kane the Englishman medieval Africa
What's interesting about this doesn't really have to do with the SK chronology -- not necessarily. What's fascinating is that Howard lists Solomon's time-period, which is firmly established as being during the reign of Elizabeth I, as "medieval". In fact, nowhere -- not in any of REH's many writings of various kinds -- does Howard ever use the term "Renaissance". Never. For him, it appears that history shifted straight from "Medieval" to "Modern". To be honest, it is all a matter of labels and personal perspective.

The Wold Newton-ized SK chronology: pjfarmer.com/woldnewton/Solomon.htmThe Toogood chrono it's based on is/was pretty good. Trying to work in crap pastiches by Zuddas almost ruins it.

Hi. has Taylor ever written a tale about sol kane? The only REH character Keith Taylor has ever written pastiches about is Cormac Mac Art (and Wulfhere, of course). While I believe that Keith could do a great Solomon Kane. I would really like to see him tackle Gottfried von Kalmbach and Sonya. His chronology for them was phenomenal. Blew my mind.

For the sake of completeness, here's Fred Blosser's SK chronology: www.chronologyproject.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=8940Now, it was written to accomodate the Marvel Comics additions to the SK saga. That isn't its main problem, IMO. Blosser is what's called an "Early" chronologist. He holds to Solomon starting his adventures before the reign of Elizabeth I, which causes numerous problems. REH himself, on a list he worked up with dates, set SK's adventures around 1580.

Hi. has Taylor ever written a tale about sol kane? Buxom Sorceress! Hello again, public benefactor! No, I never did write a tale about the dour grim Puritan. Probably never will. My experience with writing the two Cormac mac Art novels taught me that only Robert E. Howard could write a Robert E. Howard story. The only REH characters I'm considering writing about now are those who feature in one-off stories and thus were not too strongly developed. For instance, the narrator/protagonist of "The Thing on the Roof", subject of a novel I've just finished and am revising, or Steve Clarney and Yar Ali from "The Fire of Asshurbanipal". I sort of feel that's not too presumptuous.

I've written a short story called "The Book of Blasphemy" which deals with the fate of the copy of the NECRONOMICON that appears in Clark Ashton Smith's "The Return of the Sorcerer" and what became of it after that story ended. It's going to appear in SKELOS JOURNAL #3, I believe, some time around now. And "Witch With Bronze Teeth" is not exactly a Lovecraftian tale, but it's eerie horror set in the 14th century in the Baltic lands, when the Teutonic order was crushing the pagan Balts, and it features in the DISCOVERY antho about to appear from Rogue Blades Entertainment. And I do have other Lovecraftian short tales planned. Like one or two about sea captain Obed Marsh of Innsmouth and some of the deplorable deeds he did in the South Seas. I'm now doing the final revision of a novel that acts as a direct sequel to REH's "The Thing on the Roof." It begins with the problems the narrator of that yarn has with the police after Tussmann's death. Being in the man's Sussex house when he died so appallingly, and having been on bad terms with him, he's naturally a suspect. But that turns out to be the mere beginning of his troubles.

I will do these things, Sorceress. And with regard to Solomon Kane stories -- no, even though a total, complete Solomon Kane fan, I don't believe I could do REH's dour, fanatical swordsman justice. I've been fascinated enough by him to work on a detailed chronology of his life -- the one for which Deuce had kind words, though I'm not trying to pretend my version is final or authoritative. It isn't! However ...
My timeline did include an invented family background. And I have a 30,000 word story, as yet not submitted anywhere because of its inconvenient length, based on a throwaway line in Lovecraft's "Case of Charles Dexter Ward." It deals with the Black Prince's bargain with the powers of darkness at a desperate time in his Spanish campaign, just before the 1367 Battle of Najera, and the consequences. Love the battle scenes and I even have the gall to hope REH would've liked them.
I decided a while ago to write two more yarns, loosely connected to the first but taking place in later centuries, of similar length. Then maybe they could all be published in the same volume! And I've begun the second, which opens in 1527, at the sack of Rome. That was well before Solomon Kane was born. Ah, but Hildred Taferal, mentioned in "The Moon of Skulls" as the elderly cousin of the girl Solomon has followed into the depths of Africa to rescue from the monstrous city of Negari, Hildred would have been a young man then. And I've supposed that he was a mercenary on the continent, and that SK's grandfather Reuben, the same age as Hildred (mid-20s) was his comrade in arms.
I suppose further that Reuben Kane, while not the absolute master of the blade that his grandson became, was still one useful swordsman. (And later his grandson's first fencing instructor!) Reuben had studied with masters, one of them the great Achille Marozzo. And by a nice coincidence, that would have made Hildred and Reuben contemporaries of Dark Agnes and Etienne Villiers, as well as Red Sonya and Gottfried von Kalmbach. So, good, Reuben and Hildred are the protagonists of the second yarn in this triptych. Hildred doesn't appear in "The Moon of Skulls", he's only spoken about by Solomon, who evidently holds the old man -- the whole Taferal family, bar the evil Sir John -- in affection. And I've invented Reuben Kane out of thin air. Which being so, I don't feel as though I'm taking too many liberties with REH, or being too presumptuous. So right now I'm pushing on with that story while I do the final revision of the novel.
Long as my window doesn't splinter inward and a Shoggoth -- or Zarono -- appear to my shuddering gaze ...
