John Dunn Hunter was captured at the age of two by the Osages. Returning to civilization almost two decades later, he wrote a book about his experiences: www.merrycoz.org/voices/hunter/Hunter.xhtmlHis is one of the few written accounts by an eyewitness of Tecumseh making a speech at the height of his powers. The rest of Hunter's book is interesting as well. *Note: Hunter's book was harshly attacked and "discredited" soon after publication on political grounds. However, modern historians now agree that Hunter's account is credible and largely accurate.

Cool, interesting article, and one of the few you find online with worthwhile comments that add to the article!

Cool, interesting article, and one of the few you find online with worthwhile comments that add to the article! Glad you dug it, Eric. You see that all the time on FP. Some pretty cool people follow it. John Maddox Roberts shows up and there's a guy who worked with Jane Goodall. A really good blog.
