I'll be picking this up tomorrow. I hope they keep Truman and Giorello on after this series. Maybe a mini series called something along the lines of 'Conan the Pict Slayer' to lay the ground work for an adaptation of 'Beyond the Black River' would be a good idea?

I got a Facebook reply from Giorello. Giorello says that at the moment he's unsure whether there will be another series after this. It's up to the editorial board. So depending on how well this does and whether dark horse gets their head from their ass we MAY see more.

With Conan the Avenger and Wolves Beyond the Border both concluding in the next 2-3 months - dark horse seem uncertain about their next step.

The fact there's zero word out there about the next series isn't promising. I think Fred had already been named as writer roughly by this point two years ago. Tomas says it's in the hands of editorial, and unfortunately they haven't had my confidence for several years now.

They haven't given up on it either. I think February will be when we get news or not

Went to the comic shop to pick this and Conan: The Avengers #22 up...I've been buying all Robert E. Howard titles and have had them on my sub since the 2nd or 3rd issue of the Busiek/Nord run. The person at my shop who does the ordering didn't even bother to order King Conan: Wolves Beyond the Border #2 or Conan: The Avenger #22.
Luckily the guy that was working tonight ordered some for me from Diamond, and said he could try to get copies from other stores, too. But jeez, that's not a good sign. I mean, they didn't order ANY copies. Let's hope this was just a mishap, but given the sales figures that we've been seeing lately, I'm not so sure.

That's what happened to me with Conan the Cimmerian #25, the local store I went to had no copies at all (this is the store that closed three months later). The other store I did find it at had one in the back. Now that was 5 years ago when it was selling twice as much as it is now. At least I know Midtown Comics will have copies around… I hope.

Just read this on the tube twice. I did not bother picking up Conan the Avenger 22, I have not touched the main book since Queen of the Black Coast.

Finished reading this as well! I continue to be blown away by Giorello's art, and holy crap was the burning gruesome! Another great issue, but I expected no less.

You're right the burning scene was gruesome. I like the defiant last words of Crassus, ' I'll buy you... a drink... in... in... hell... Ci.. Cimmerian...!'

Do you think the ship in the 1st issue is a cue for Truman's very own Conan of the Isles? I'm certain it'll be a thousand times better than Decamp's attempt.

My LCS got me in a copy of this and Conan: The Adventurer #22. This went right to the top of the pile.
Very solid issue, and yeah, damn that burning scene was intense.
King Conan has shed his bodyguards within the second issue and now he's all on his own for the next two. Funny, I didn't notice this was only a 4 issue mini, but since it's adapting a fragment, I guess that's to be expected.
This pictish "ally" of Conan's, Bril....I think he looks a bit too much like King Conan in his prime. Something could be up there.
