Sad to hear that. Loved him in lots of movies. Bladerunner, Blind Fury, The Hitcher, etc. Just looking at his Filmography, I never saw this Escape from Sobibor. I love WW2 stuff, I'll have to check in to this.

Sad news.
RIP Rutger.
I remember the old Guinness TV ads in the UK.

Probably, one of the most memorable scenes in Blade Runner or for that matter in modern cinema (I just noticed Blade Runner is set in 2019):
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.

My brother told me about it today. I will always remember him for his memorable performance in Bladerunner, Ladyhawke and Blind fury. I also remember enjoying a video I borrowed back in the 90's starring Rutger Hauer. Movie called Split Second set in a post apocalypse London of the future where he played a detective on the trail of creature that is leaving victims in its path, had a kinda 2000 AD comic magazine feel to it.

Wanted: Dead or Alive was great too.

My favorite memory is Rutger in The Hitcher. The movie is a stone-cold classic in the thriller genre, and his performance was a standout. Rutger was positivity chilling in that movie. He was an essential part of 80’s cinema, and therefore an essential part of my youth. Goodnight Rutger...
