I just want to take a moment to thank everyone who posted suggestions here (and on other threads) - I've never had a reading list so long.

Gone are the days of wandering used book stores hoping vaguely that the title I found will be even remotely entertaining; these boards are like a map to the buried treasures of Project Gutenburg.
