Apologies if this has already been discussed, but is it known when and in what region Howard's story Valley of the Worm takes place? It involves a tribe of Aesir, so I gather it's sometime in the Hyborian era, but that's all I've got.

Apologies if this has already been discussed, but is it known when and in what region Howard's story Valley of the Worm takes place? It involves a tribe of Aesir, so I gather it's sometime in the Hyborian era, but that's all I've got. It's actually what could be called "post-Hyborian Age". It would appear to take place in the eastern portion of what could be called the Pre-Med ("pre-Mediterranean") Basin, where Picts had wandered down from the Hyborian kingdoms they'd conquered into the basin which would not be inundated until MUCH later (see "Brachen the Kelt"). There are also Sub-Saharan Africans/Kushites there, brought to the region by the conquering Hyrkanians and then abandoned. Hope that helps.
