Anyone else see the latest BBC Dracula adaption? Spread over three 90 minute episodes, it's a version of rather than a faithful adaptation of Stoker's novel. Overall, I enjoyed it. A fresh take and some nice twists. A few gripes, of course, but taken as a whole I think it worked. The nun was an especially good character and there were lots of nods to Hammer / Christopher Lee and others. www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p07rxf89

Yes, I've watched it. Typical Mof/tis adaptation where they try to maintain the core of the story but modernise it somewhat. I found it enjoyable overall. Did I like everything? No, but it was better viewing than the relentlessly grim and PC version of A Christmas Carol BBC did this year.

It jumped to the modern era very suddenly in the final episode, didn't it?

I enjoyed this modern version of Dracula. It certainly beats the usual stuff we get on TV over Christmas and New Year in the UK.

Was it better than the newest Doctor Who?

I would say yes, for the most part. The first 55 minutes were naff as hell but the last 5 minutes were amazing.

Full of the self-indulgent smugness that blights most of Gatiss and Moffat's shows, most notably Sherlock. As is is often the case with work from these writers, the British TV critics think it's the best thing since sliced bread, but the comments sections show that the viewing public doesn't necessarily agree with them. ...... You're absolutely right about Gatiss/Moffat. They can't manage to keep from patting themselves on the back.
