Just found an abandonware site that has the PC version of this game available for download, and i had totally forgotten about it. I'd heard of it before, most notably for it's decent cover art, but never played it. Anyone got an experience with this game? Or is it a mediocre effort?

Well that's a great cover, for sure. Evocative, dangerous (skulls), sexy she-thief, Conan looks right... got all the classic elements.
Iron Shadow, a little more contxt would be good. Year? Genre? How about a link to the site you referenced?

Not sure I would call this abandonware. It's from 2004, and it was released on all systems at the time. GameCube, PS2, Xbox, and Windows. www.mobygames.com/game/conan

I do believe this was a European-only release, correct?

There is also a copy of this game available on pirate bay, which is how I played it about a year ago. Unfortunately it doesn't have anyone seeding it anymore. I found the game to be a lot of fun and overall very immersive. Better than the 2007 Conan game in my opinon. Although it has some faults, like there not being dodge/evade move. And Conan himself manuviors like a tank, similiarly to classic Resident Evil, but much less clunky. It also gets repitive by the end. The positive far outweighs the negative tho. The game is very faithful, and Conan is well written and voiced. Good game with a few control issues critics back in the day would probaly not have overlooked. I'd give it close to seven outta ten.

Unfortunately gents, the website i found the game on (and i didn't download it thankfully) is riddled with Malware, so i'm glad didn't happen. I might be able to source a copy on ebay in the UK, i'll see how that goes. Damn shame that Conan 2007 was never released on PC, as the 360 version isn't on the backwards compatibility list for the Xbox 1X. That game isn't exactly flawless (it's a poor man's God OF War) but Ron Perlman as Conan gave a solid performance.

I found a copy and managed to get it installed, upgraded, and patched on my Windows 10 machine, but can't properly play it. My gamepad isn't recognized, and mouse sensitivity is completely jacked.
Unless you have a 15 year old gaming PC lying around, you're probably better off emulating the GameCube or PS2 version.

They should throw this up on Steam or something. From Wikipedia it looks like it was fairly well received as far as the reviews go.

In my case the mouse sensitivity was fine. I didn't need a gamepad because the controls work well on a keyboard and mouse setup.
